Warriors Look for Redemption in Home Matchups Against SoCal Foes

TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State hosts two CCAA southern California teams this week. No. 3 Cal State Dominguez Hills visits on Thursday, February 13th at 5:30 p.m. Cal State Los Angeles will play at the Fitz on Saturday, February 15th at 1:00 p.m. The Warriors fell to both teams on their opponents' territory, with the Toros taking the win on December 17th, 2024, 81-61. The Golden Eagles earned a win 79-62 on December 5th, 2024.
 
LAST WEEK: The Warriors traveled for two road games this week, first to Chico State then on to Cal Poly Humboldt. Both teams bested the Stan State, with the Wildcats claiming a 97-61 victory despite a strong performance by Da'Myiah Lewis. Lewis earned a double-double with a career high 31 points combined with 13 rebounds.
 
The Lumberjacks took down the Warriors 68-51, though Stan State had three double-digit scorers. Amya Vangkham-Griffin scored a career-high 15 points to lead the team, followed by Jadyn Patterson and Da'Myiah Lewis with 11 points each. Lewis was just short of a double-double with nine rebounds. The Warriors held Cal Poly Humboldt to shooting just 20% from the field in the second quarter.
 
WARRIORS IN REVIEW: Stan State, who is currently 5-17 overall and 4-12 in CCAA play, are scoring 57.6 points per game while giving up 71.8 points per game to opponents. Da'Myiah Lewis leads the team in points, averaging 16 points per game. Lewis also leads the team in rebounds and steals, averaging 8.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game. Talia Maxwell continues to lead in blocks with 2.3 per game, followed by Krista Andersen with 0.8 per game. Quinn Garrett leads the team in assists with two per game.
 
NCAA RANKINGS: Da'Myiah Lewis is ranked in the top 50 in two categories in NCAA Division II. Lewis is 37th in double-doubles with eight 29th in free throws with 100.
 
CCAA RANKINGS: Talia Maxwell and Da'Myiah Lewis are in the top five in several statistical categories. Talia Maxwell continues to be ranked fifth in blocks with 23. Da'Myiah Lewis is fourth in points (336); third in points per game (16); second in double-doubles (8), total rebounds (184), rebounds per game (8.8), and defensive rebounds per game (6.1); and first in first in free throws (100).
 
DOUBLES BY LEWIS: Out of her 21 games played this season, Da'Myiah Lewis has only scored less than 10 points in three games. In five of her 21 games, Lewis has scored 20 or more points. She has combined her high-scoring with double-digit rebounds in eight games this season, tallying eight double-doubles this season and 10 total in her career.

ANOTHER CAREER HIGH FOR VANGKHAM-GRIFFIN: Amya Vangkham-Griffin scored a new career high in points versus Cal Poly Humboldt. Vangkham-Griffin scored 15 points, besting a new career high she had set only three games prior.
 
TOROS IN REVIEW: No.3 Cal State Dominguez Hills (24-0, 16-0 CCAA) are currently outscoring their opponents by 24.5 points per game. Their leading scorer is Nala Williams at 17.8 points per game. Williams also leads the team in assists (4.1 per game) and steals (4.4 per game. She is currently maintaining a 1.87 assist-to-turnover ratio. Asia Jordan is the leader in rebounds with 6.5 per game and blocks with 0.6 per game.  
 
ALL-TIME SERIES: Dating back to 1990, Cal State Dominguez Hills leads the all-time series with Stan State 33-23. The Warriors met them this season in Carson, Calif., with the Toros taking the game 81-61. Talia Mawell led the Warriors with 19 points followed by Da'Myiah Lewis scoring 17 points.  
 
GOLDEN EAGLES IN REVIEW: Cal State Los Angeles (13-8, 8-8 CCAA) is only outscoring their opponents by 4.6 points. Lily Buggs is the scoring leader for the Golden Eagles, averaging 12.7 points per game. Buggs also leads in steals with 1.5 per game. Olivia Hodges is currently averaging 10.4 rebounds per game, while Nevaeh Asiasi leads in assists with 3.5 per game. Amaya Fuentes leads in steals with 1.2 steals per game.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES: From 2007, Cal State Los Angeles leads the all-time series with Stan State 18-16. Earlier this season, the Golden Eagles took down the Warriors 79-62 in Los Angeles, Calif. Talia Maxwell led the Warriors with 18 points and five blocks, while Da'Myiah Lewis recorded 14 points and eight rebounds.
