Stan State Travels South for CCAA Matchups at Cal State Los Angeles and Cal State Dominguez Hills

TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State continues CCAA play on the road this week, traveling south for a pair of conference matchups at Cal State Los Angeles on Thursday, Jan. 8, at 5:30 p.m., before visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday, Jan. 10, at 1 p.m.

Warriors Update
Stan State (1–8, 0–6 CCAA) heads back on the road looking to build momentum as conference play continues. The Warriors have leaned heavily on their frontcourt tandem of MilaSarai Tau and Eryn Gardner to anchor the lineup through the opening half of the season. Tau leads the team at 10.9 points per game while adding 4.9 rebounds per contest, while Gardner contributes 9.3 points and a team-high 7.6 rebounds per game while averaging over 33 minutes per outing.

Alyssa Premo (7.9 ppg) and Karissa Hukill (6.9 ppg, 4.6 rpg) provide additional scoring and rebounding support, while Aaliyah Dias (5.6 ppg) and Amya Vangkham-Griffin (4.9 ppg) add perimeter balance. Quinn Garrett leads the Warriors with 15 assists on the season and ranks second on the team with 12 steals, while Cameron Gibson anchors the paint defensively with a team-best seven blocked shots.
As a team, Stan State averages 53.7 points and 36.3 rebounds per game while forcing nearly 19 turnovers per contest, continuing to emphasize defensive pressure and rebounding growth as league play progresses.

Last Time Out
Stan State opened the new year with a pair of home CCAA contests inside Fitzpatrick Arena, falling 78–72 in overtime to Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday before dropping a 71–54 decision to Cal State San Marcos on Sunday.
Against CSUMB, the Warriors rallied late to force overtime behind a career-high 20 points from Alyssa Premo and a season-high 16 from Aaliyah Dias. Premo's fast-break layup in the final seconds of regulation tied the game, but Monterey Bay used a strong overtime finish to secure the win.

On Sunday, Stan State placed three players in double figures, with Premo, MilaSarai Tau, and Karissa Hukill each scoring 10 points. The Warriors closed the game with improved energy in the fourth quarter but were unable to overcome an earlier second-quarter deficit.

Premo, Dias Lead Weekend Scoring
Alyssa Premo and Aaliyah Dias powered the Warriors offensively across the weekend. Premo averaged 15.0 points per game, highlighted by a career-high 20-point performance against Cal State Monterey Bay, where she went 8-for-9 from the free-throw line and scored the game-tying basket in the final seconds of regulation. Dias provided a spark off the bench, averaging 11.0 points per contest while knocking down three three-pointers against CSUMB and supplying consistent perimeter scoring in both games.

CCAA Stat Leaders
Eryn Gardner ranks eighth in the CCAA in rebounding, averaging 7.6 boards per game, while MilaSarai Tau sits seventh in the conference in field goal percentage, highlighting the Warriors' presence and efficiency in the frontcourt.

Double-Doubles
Eryn Gardner recorded the Warriors' lone double-double of the season to date, posting 17 points and 10 rebounds in the road contest at Jessup. The performance marked Gardner's first double-double in a Stan State uniform and underscored her growing impact in the frontcourt.

Scouting Cal State Los Angeles
Cal State Los Angeles (6–5, 3–3 CCAA) enters Thursday's matchup averaging 70.7 points per game while holding opponents to 67.1. The Golden Eagles are led by Nevaeh Asiasi, who averages 16.1 points and 9.5 rebounds per game, and Sofia Fidelus, who adds 14.5 points per contest.  Cal State Los Angeles shoots 40.1 percent from the field and 34.1 percent from three-point range, knocking down 7.6 three-pointers per game, while also ranking among the league leaders with 5.0 blocks per contest. The Golden Eagles average 41.1 rebounds and 15.4 assists per game, emphasizing ball movement and inside-out scoring.

Season Series – Cal State Los Angeles
Cal State Los Angeles holds an 18–15 advantage in the all-time series since 2008 and has won four of the last five meetings. Stan State's most recent win came in December 2023, when the Warriors earned a 62–61 road victory at Cal State Los Angeles.  Last season, Stan State fell 79–62 at Cal State Los Angeles in December 2024, with Kalyn Harris leading the Warriors with 13 points. The teams met again in February 2025 in Turlock, where Cal State Los Angeles secured an 84–80 overtime win. Amya Vangkham-Griffin paced Stan State with 23 points, while Quinn Garrett added 16.

Scouting Cal State Dominguez Hills
Cal State Dominguez Hills (2–9, 2–4 CCAA) enters the weekend averaging 61.0 points per game. The Toros are led by Tiara Jones (11.1 ppg, 5.2 rpg) and Bryanne Lopez-Wood (10.5 ppg), with Kylee Edgar (7.8 ppg) and A'Moree Ferrel (7.0 ppg) adding scoring depth.  Cal State Dominguez Hills averages 34.9 rebounds per game and forces 18.2 turnovers per contest, while ranking among the conference leaders with 9.2 steals per game and 2.6 blocks per outing.

Season Series – Cal State Dominguez Hills
Cal State Dominguez Hills leads the all-time series 18–12 since 2008, with the two programs splitting the last four meetings. The Toros earned an 81–60 win in Carson in December 2024, as Kalyn Harris recorded 10 points and 11 rebounds.  Cal State Dominguez Hills also claimed a 93–54 victory in Turlock in February, with Amya Vangkham-Griffin leading the Warriors with 12 points.
