Softball to Host Stan State Invitational
The Stan State softball team will host the Stan State Invitational this weekend at Warrior Field, with four days of action scheduled from Thursday, Feb. 12 through Sunday, Feb. 15. Stan State opens the tournament on Thursday with a 2 p.m. match-up against Dominican, then continues play on Friday at 11:30 a.m. against Central Washington. The Warriors return to the field Saturday evening for a 7 p.m. contest with Central Washington before closing the invitational on Sunday with games against Saint Martin's at 9 a.m. and Menlo at 2 p.m.
The Warriors enter the weekend after opening the 2026 season with a 3–2 record at the D2 West Coast Challenge in Costa Mesa, Calif. Stan State picked up wins against Biola, Western Oregon, and Azusa Pacific.
Ava Montesdeoca led the offense, batting .500 (8-for-16) with six runs scored and an RBI, while
Katelyn Bridgeman added a .421 average with eight hits, four RBIs, and two doubles over five games.
Nat Camarena supplied the Warriors' lone home run of the weekend, a grand slam, and drove in a team-high eight runs. In the circle,
Alexis Camberos anchored the pitching staff with a 1.70 ERA across three appearances, earning a win and a save, while
Alexandria Himes and
Nat Camarena each recorded a victory to round out Stan State's three wins.
Women's Indoor Track & Field Shines at Wolf Pack Classic
The Stan State women's indoor track & field team turned in a strong weekend performance at the Wolf Pack Classic in Reno, highlighted by multiple school-record and all-time marks. Alexis Niño delivered the headline moment of the meet, shattering the Stan State shot put school record with a massive throw of 49-8½ (15.15m). The mark earned her a first-place finish, broke her own previous record by nearly a meter, and currently ranks 10th in the nation. Earlier in the meet, Niño also led the Warriors in the 20-lb weight throw with a mark of 55-2¾ (16.85m).
On the track,
Mila Real delivered another headline performance by breaking the Stan State school record in the 200 meters with a time of 24.90, continuing her standout indoor season. Real also posted an all-time mark in the hurdles, while
Reyna Dismukes and Ahlia Alberghottie added all-time performances in the sprints, each moving into the top 10 of the Stan State indoor record book. The Warriors also posted a strong showing in the distance medley relay, as the quartet of
Crystal Hernandez,
Mila Real,
Izzy Soto, and
Annie Wild combined for a provisional mark of 11:45.04.
Men's Basketball Battling in Tight CCAA Race
The Stan State men's basketball team enters the final stretch of the regular season locked in a tightly contested CCAA standings race, sitting in a four-way tie for sixth place at 7–9 in conference play with six games remaining. The Warriors split their weekend at home, dropping a close contest to Chico State before responding with a 74–67 win over Cal Poly Humboldt.
Antony Newman-Gomez led Stan State in both games, averaging 12.0 points and 5.5 rebounds over the weekend while shooting efficiently.
On the season,
Donjae Lindsey leads the Warriors at 12.9 points per game, with
Malachi Johnson close behind at 12.8 points per contest. Johnson also anchors Stan State on the glass, leading the team with 7.3 rebounds per game as the Warriors remain firmly in the hunt for a CCAA Tournament berth.
Baseball Continues Strong Start with Series Win at Vanguard
The Stan State baseball team improved to 5–2 on the season after winning two of three games at Vanguard. Offensively,
Kian Sanchez leads the Warriors with a .591 batting average, while
Mason Kelley has driven in a team-high seven runs and
Korey Likens paces the lineup in runs scored. Power has been balanced throughout the order, with home runs this season from Sanchez, Likens, Kelley, and
Austin Sargent. On the mound,
Austin Balentine has emerged as the staff ace, posting a 0.82 ERA with two wins and eight strikeouts, while
Eli Blurton has been dominant out of the bullpen with a 0.00 ERA, two wins, one save, and a team-high eight strikeouts. Blurton was again pivotal at Vanguard, throwing 3.2 scoreless innings while earning both a win and a save as the Warriors took the final two games of the series.
Women's Tennis Dominates in 7–0 Win Over Jessup
The Stan State women's tennis team delivered a dominant 7–0 victory over William Jessup on Saturday at the Stan State Tennis Courts. The Warriors set the tone early by claiming the doubles point with convincing wins on the top two courts.
Emma Yu and
Abbigail Mulick earned a 6–4 victory at No. 1 doubles, while
Parker Orlando and Katrine Damjaer cruised to a 6–0 win at No. 2.
Stan State carried the momentum into singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets. Mulick and Orlando each posted 6–0, 6–0 wins, while Katrine Damjaer,
Maiah White, and
Emma Yu also earned victories as the Warriors controlled play throughout the afternoon.
Women's Basketball Splits Weekend at Home
The Stan State women's basketball team posted a 1–1 weekend at home, opening with a 67–61 overtime win over Chico State before falling to Cal Poly Humboldt, 72–61.
Alyssa Premo led the Warriors over the two games, averaging 15.0 points per contest, while
Karissa Hukill added 13.5 points per game.
On the season,
MilaSarai Tau leads Stan State at 12.8 points per game, with Premo close behind at 11.8 points per contest.
Eryn Gardner anchors the Warriors on the glass, leading the team with 8.7 rebounds per game as conference play continues.
Men's Golf Set for Spring Opener at CSU San Marcos Fujikura Invitational
The Stan State men's golf team returns to competition Feb. 9–10 as it opens the spring portion of the 2025–26 season at the CSU San Marcos Fujikura Invitational at Shadowridge Country Club in Vista, Calif. The two-day event marks the first of eight spring tournaments for the Warriors, who enter the season ranked No. 11 in the region.
Owen Bascom leads Stan State with a 74.08 scoring average, followed closely by
Riley Kirk (74.33) and
Ricky Sullivan (74.50).
Indoor Track & Field Posts National-Level Marks as Postseason Nears
Stan State women's indoor track & field continues to post national-level performances as the postseason approaches, with several athletes and relays currently sitting in NCAA Division II qualifying position. Alexis Niño ranks 10th nationally in the shot put following her school-record throw of 15.15 meters.
Mila Real currently sits 30th nationally in the 400 meters with a time of 55.88, while
Annie Wild ranks fourth in the nation in the mile after clocking a 4:41.94. The Warriors' distance medley relay of
Crystal Hernandez,
Mila Real,
Izzy Soto, and
Annie Wild ranks 10th nationally with a provisional time of 11:45.04. Stan State returns to action Feb. 13–14 at the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash., with final NCAA Division II Indoor qualifying positions to be announced March 3 on ncaa.com ahead of the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, scheduled for March 12–14 in Virginia Beach, Va.

Donna Pierce Warriors of the Week
Four Stanislaus State student-athletes from across the department have been named Donna Pierce Warriors of the Week, recognizing outstanding performances in baseball, softball, men's basketball, and women's indoor track & field. This week's honorees are
Eli Blurton (baseball),
Alexis Camberos (softball),
Antony Newman-Gomez (men's basketball), and Alexis Niño (women's indoor track & field), each of whom delivered standout efforts in competition while helping elevate their respective programs.
Eli Blurton was instrumental in Stanislaus State's weekend series victory over Vanguard, delivering two high-impact relief appearances while recording both a save and a win. Across 3.2 innings of work, Blurton did not allow a run, posting a 0.00 ERA while surrendering just two hits and striking out five batters. He held opposing hitters to a .143 batting average and consistently delivered in high-leverage moments. Blurton earned the save with a clean one-inning outing in the series opener, calmly closing out the game to secure the Warriors' win. In the series finale, he entered the game in the bottom of the fourth inning with runners on second and third and one out, immediately shutting down the scoring threat by inducing a pop-up followed by a groundout. Blurton went on to throw 2.2 shutout innings and earned the win, stabilizing the contest and preserving the Warriors' lead as they clinched the series.
Alexis Camberos delivered a strong opening week in the circle for the Warriors, anchoring the pitching staff with consistent performances across three appearances. Over 12.1 innings pitched, Camberos allowed just three earned runs, compiling a 1.70 ERA while limiting opposing offenses throughout the weekend. She opened the week with a 6.1-inning outing against Western Oregon, allowing only one earned run while keeping hitters off balance and setting the tone for the staff. Camberos followed with 4.1 innings of work against CUI before closing the weekend against Lubbock Christian, where she did not allow an earned run.
Antony Newman-Gomez turned in a productive two-game week for the Warriors, providing steady scoring, efficient shooting, and all-around contributions in conference matchups against Chico State and Cal Poly Humboldt. Against Chico State, Newman-Gomez scored nine points on 4-of-7 shooting while adding five rebounds and four assists in 30 minutes of action. He followed with an even stronger performance versus Cal Poly Humboldt, finishing with 15 points on 4-of-8 shooting and going a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line. Newman-Gomez also pulled down six rebounds and dished out three assists in the win, impacting the game on both ends of the floor. Over the two contests, he averaged 12.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game, providing consistency and leadership during a key stretch of CCAA play.

Alexis Niño delivered a historic weekend for Stanislaus State women's indoor track & field at the Wolf Pack Classic, turning in elite-level performances in the throwing events and rewriting the program record book. On Saturday, Niño shattered her own school record in the shot put with a massive throw of 49-8½ (15.15m), earning a first-place finish while breaking the previous mark by nearly a full meter. The performance currently ranks 10th in the nation and stands as the best shot put throw in Stan State history. Earlier in the meet, Niño also led the Warriors in the 20-lb weight throw with a mark of 55-2¾ (16.85m), showcasing her consistency and dominance across multiple events. Her record-breaking weekend highlighted a strong overall showing for the Warriors and positioned her as one of the top throwers in NCAA Division II as the postseason approaches.
