Stan State Women’s Basketball Heads to Southern California for CCAA Road Games

TURLOCK, Calif.---Stan State women's basketball hits the road this week to continue CCAA play with a pair of Southern California match-ups, opening the trip Thursday, Feb. 12 at No. 9 Cal Poly Pomona at 5:30 p.m. The Warriors will close the weekend on Saturday, Feb. 14 with a 1 p.m. tip at Cal State San Bernardino.

Season Snapshot
Stan State enters the week at 3–16 overall and 2–14 in CCAA play, averaging 58.2 points and 36.9 rebounds per game. MilaSarai Tau leads the Warriors offensively at 12.8 points per game while shooting 44.4 percent from the field, adding 5.4 rebounds per contest. Alyssa Premo follows at 11.8 points per game on 45.3 percent shooting and ranks among the CCAA leaders at the free-throw line, converting 77.6 percent of her attempts. Eryn Gardner anchors the interior, averaging 9.5 points and a team-high 8.7 rebounds per game, while also leading the Warriors with 16 blocked shots.  Stan State averages 11.0 assists per game, paced by Quinn Garrett with 49 assists on the season. The Warriors average 7.3 steals per contest and continue to compete defensively, with multiple players contributing across the stat sheet.

Weekend in Review
Stan State went 1–1 last week at Fitzpatrick Arena, opening the weekend with a 67–61 overtime victory over Chico State before falling 72–61 to Cal Poly Humboldt. The Warriors outscored Chico State 14–6 in overtime, forcing 26 turnovers while holding the Wildcats to 35.8 percent shooting. Alyssa Premo led Stan State on the weekend at 15.0 points per game, while Karissa Hukill provided a boost off the bench, averaging 13.5 points per contest.
Eryn Gardner anchored the interior with a game-high 20 rebounds against Chico State, and the Warriors battled on the glass in both contests. Stan State was paced by Premo and Hukill with 15 points apiece against Humboldt, while the Warriors competed throughout before Cal Poly Humboldt pulled away in the second half.

CCAA Stat Leaders
Stan State continues to be represented among the CCAA's individual statistical leaders, led by Alyssa Premo and Eryn Gardner. Premo ranks third in the conference in free-throw percentage and sixth in field goal percentage, while Gardner sits fifth in the CCAA in rebounding and 10th in blocked shots. MilaSarai Tau also ranks among the league leaders, coming in 10th in the conference in scoring.

Trio Leading the Way
Alyssa Premo, Eryn Gardner, and MilaSarai Tau continue to form the core of the Warriors' lineup as conference play moves forward. Premo provides efficiency and consistency offensively, averaging 11.8 points per game while shooting 45.3 percent from the field and 77.6 percent at the free-throw line. Gardner anchors the interior, contributing 9.5 points and a team-high 8.7 rebounds per game, while also leading Stan State with 16 blocked shots. Tau leads the Warriors in scoring at 12.8 points per game, shooting 44.4 percent from the field and adding 5.4 rebounds per contest as a versatile offensive presence.

Stan State Claims Pair of CCAA Home Wins
Stan State's two CCAA victories this season have both come at home, beginning with a 66–58 win over UC Merced on Jan. 24 before the Warriors followed with a 67–61 overtime victory against Chico State on Feb. 5. In the two wins, Stan State averaged 66.5 points per game while holding opponents to 59.5 points per contest and forcing 20.5 turnovers per game. Alyssa Premo led the Warriors offensively across the two victories at 16.0 points per game, while Eryn Gardner averaged 15.5 rebounds and added seven steals. MilaSarai Tau posted a season-high 21 points in the win over UC Merced, and the Warriors outscored Chico State 14–6 in overtime to secure their second conference victory.

Scouting Cal Poly Pomona
No. 9 Cal Poly Pomona enters the matchup at 20–2 overall and 15–1 in CCAA play, averaging 68.5 points per game while holding opponents to 54.3 points per contest. The Broncos shoot 42.7 percent from the field and hold a plus-14.2 scoring margin, while also owning a plus-8.7 rebounding margin. Sydney Nelson leads Pomona at 18.9 points per game on 51.7 percent shooting, while Hunter Hudson adds 7.0 points and a team-high 7.8 rebounds per contest. Brielle Minor facilitates the offense with a conference-leading 114 assists, and Pomona averages 9.0 steals and 3.8 blocks per game, ranking among the CCAA's top defensive teams.

Last Time vs. Cal Poly Pomona
Stan State last faced Cal Poly Pomona on Dec. 21 at Fitzpatrick Arena, falling 75–37 in CCAA play. The Broncos pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring the Warriors 27–11 to create separation. MilaSarai Tau led Stan State with seven points and six rebounds, while Quinn Garrett added six points. The Warriors were held to 21.2 percent shooting from the field, as Pomona forced 28 turnovers and scored 26 points off turnovers.

Season Series vs. Cal Poly Pomona
Cal Poly Pomona holds a 24–8 advantage in the all-time series dating back to 2009 and has won seven of the last eight meetings. The Broncos earned a 75–37 victory earlier this season in Turlock. Stan State's most recent win in the series came on Feb. 24, 2024, when the Warriors posted a 59–58 road victory in Pomona.

Scouting Cal State San Bernardino
Cal State San Bernardino enters the weekend at 9–12 overall and 7–9 in CCAA play, averaging 62.5 points per game while allowing 63.1 points per contest. The Coyotes shoot 35.7 percent from the field and 29.5 percent from three-point range, knocking down 6.5 three-pointers per game. CSUSB holds a slight rebounding edge at 40.9 boards per contest and ranks among the conference's more active defensive teams, averaging 10.0 steals and 3.5 blocks per game.  Princess Cassell leads the Coyotes offensively at 12.8 points per game, followed by Rebecca Saidoff at 10.0 points per contest while shooting 37.3 percent from three-point range. Jaushlynn Ruffin adds 9.0 points and 4.8 rebounds per game, while Citlali Salazar directs the offense with 55 assists and contributes 6.2 points per game.

Last Time vs. CSUSB
Stan State last faced Cal State San Bernardino on Dec. 19 at Fitzpatrick Arena, falling 78–33 in CCAA play. The Coyotes jumped out early and maintained control throughout, holding the Warriors to 21.9 percent shooting from the field and 1-for-24 from three-point range. MilaSarai Tau led Stan State with 11 points, while Alyssa Premo added six points and five rebounds. CSUSB was paced by Rebecca Saidoff with 16 points and Princess Cassell with 14 points.

Season Series vs. CSUSB
Cal State San Bernardino holds a 19–12 advantage in the all-time series dating back to 2010 and has won four of the last six meetings. The Coyotes earned a 78–33 victory earlier this season in Turlock. Stan State's most recent win in the series came on Jan. 20, 2024, when the Warriors posted a 74–63 home victory at Fitzpatrick Arena.

The Warriors return home next week to host Cal State Dominguez Hills on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 5:30 p.m. on Homecoming Night, followed by Cal State Los Angeles on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. on Senior Day, when the Warriors will recognize Krista Andersen and Alyssa Premo. Stan State will then close the season back on the road, visiting Cal State East Bay on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 5:30 p.m. in Hayward, Calif., before wrapping up the regular season at San Francisco State on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 1 p.m. in San Francisco, Calif.
