Stan State Named PacWest Team of the Week Ahead of Key Menlo Matchup

3/17/2026 2:00:00 PM

TURLOCK, Calif. – Stan State women's tennis enters the week with momentum following a demanding four-match week, highlighted by a statement 4-3 victory over No. 11 Hawai'i Pacific.

Over a six-day stretch, the Warriors competed in four matches, earning PacWest wins over Hawai'i Pacific and Dominican before closing with a dominant 7-0 sweep of Chaminade. The run tested the team's depth and resilience, with multiple matches decided by tight singles battles and clutch performances across the lineup.

The highlight came against Hawai'i Pacific, where Stan State rallied from a doubles deficit to secure four singles victories in a dramatic 4-3 win. The Warriors carried that energy forward, edging Dominican 4-3 behind strong performances throughout the lineup before finishing the week with a complete team effort against Chaminade.

The strong week earned Stan State PacWest Team of the Week honors, recognizing the Warriors' victories over Hawai'i Pacific and Dominican and their continued growth in conference play.

"My young team is starting to understand our culture and process," said head coach Verek Visaraga. "They're buying in, working hard, and it's starting to show."

During the stretch, the Warriors have seen consistent production across the lineup. Abbigail Mulick, Parker Orlando, Katrine Damkjaer, Maiah White, and Emi Mikami have all delivered key singles wins, with the team showing an ability to close out tight matches in conference play.

Looking Ahead: Menlo

Stan State returns to PacWest action Friday, March 20, hosting Menlo College at 12:00 p.m. at the Stan State Tennis Courts.

The matchup presents an opportunity for the Warriors to respond after a 5-2 road loss to Menlo earlier this season. Stan State holds a 1-3 record in the all-time series, with its lone win coming at home during the 2025 season, where the Warriors earned a 5-2 victory in Turlock.

Menlo enters the matchup in strong form, winning three of its last four contests, with their only recent loss coming against No. 11 Hawai'i Pacific. The Oaks have shown the ability to control matches from the top of the lineup while also producing depth across singles play.

Friday's contest carries added importance as the Warriors continue to position themselves within the conference standings.

"We're looking forward to this next stretch," Visaraga added. "Friday against Menlo is a big match for us."

Weekend Match

The homestand continues Saturday, March 21, as Stan State hosts American River College at 12:00 p.m. The matchup will serve as an exhibition, giving the Warriors an additional opportunity to stay sharp and continue building rhythm as the PacWest schedule progresses.

With conference play intensifying, the Warriors will look to carry their recent momentum into another important weekend in Turlock.
