BEAUMONT, Calif. — The Stan State men's golf team sits in fifth place out of 13 teams after two rounds of the Coyote Classic, posting a 7-over par total of 583 (290-293) at the par-72 Oak Valley Golf Club. The final round is set for an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.
Chase Bird leads the way for the Warriors, sitting in a tie for sixth at 3-under 141 after rounds of 74-67, with his second-round 67 marking the low round of the day for Stan State. Bird is tied with Tyler Price of Cal State San Bernardino and has recorded 10 birdies through two rounds.
Owen Bascom is also inside the top 10, tied for ninth at even-par 144 (69-75), alongside Marco Lin (Cal State San Bernardino), Vineet Vallamsetty (Chico State), Trent Fitzgerald (Cal State Dominguez Hills), Colin Huang (Cal State Monterey Bay) and Timmy Cavarno (Colorado Mesa). Bascom has totaled seven birdies, including an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole in the opening round.
Carson Diaz is tied for 33rd at 4-over 148 (71-77), joined by Jetty Sivongsay (Cal State San Bernardino), Cole Kroeker (Menlo) and Dylan Christensen (Northwest Nazarene). Diaz has recorded seven birdies, including an eagle on the par-5 fifth hole in the second round.
Ricky Sullivan is tied for 43rd at 7-over 151 (76-75) with Alexander Cooke (Cal State Monterey Bay), Se Min Song (Cal State Dominguez Hills) and Julian Gay (Cal State San Marcos), tallying three birdies over the first two rounds.
Riley Kirk rounds out the lineup in a tie for 56th at 10-over 154 (78-76), alongside Cooper Hambrick (Chico State), Zachary Iwashita (Cal State Dominguez Hills) and others, finishing the day with four birdies.
Competing as an individual, Jesse Verheul is tied for 59th at 11-over 155 after rounds of 72-83 and has recorded five birdies.
Host Cal State San Bernardino leads the tournament at 13-under 563, with Cal State Monterey Bay in second at 10-under and No. 12 nationally ranked Colorado Mesa tied with Chico State for third at 3-under. Stan State enters the final round within striking distance of the top three.
Tomorrow's Pairings
The Warriors will start on holes six through nine and be paired with golfers from Northwest Nazarene, Menlo College, and Fort Lewis College. Playing as an individual, Jesse Verheul, will start on hole 16 and be paired with golfers from La Sierra, Cal State San Marcos, and Cal State San Bernardino.

After tomorrow's final round, Stan State returns home April 13–14 to host the 51st Hanny Stanislaus Invitational at Turlock Golf & Country Club. Following the final round, the Warriors will recognize senior Chase Bird for his contributions to the program.
The Warriors then travel to Stockton for the CCAA Championships, scheduled for April 20–22 at The Reserve at Spanos Park.
Stan State will need to be ranked among the top 10 teams in the West Region to qualify for the NCAA Division II West/South Central Regional, set for May 7–9 in Stockton. Selections for the NCAA Division II Championships will be announced April 26 on NCAA.com.
The NCAA Division II National Championships will follow May 18–22 at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev.
