Stan State enters a busy mid-March stretch with national championship appearances, key CCAA road series, and pivotal home match-ups highlighting the week ahead. Indoor track & field will compete on the national stage, baseball continues conference play on the road, softball returns home for a four-game CCAA series, women's tennis hosts a four-match home-stand, and men's golf opens the week in the Bay Area as spring competition gains momentum.

Warriors Set for NCAA Indoor Championships
Stan State track & field will be represented at the 2025–26 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships March 13–14 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Va. The distance medley relay team of Crystal Hernandez, Mila Real, Izzy Soto and Annie Wild will compete Friday evening at 4:25 p.m. (PST) after posting a season-best time of 11:38.87, the second-fastest mark in school history. Alexis Nino will compete in the women's shot put Saturday at 2:15 p.m. (PST) with a school-record qualifying mark of 15.15 meters (49-8.5). Wild will also run in the women's mile prelims Friday at 1:05 p.m. (PST) after clocking a qualifying time of 4:41.94, with the mile finals set for 1:50 p.m. (PST) on Saturday afternoon.

Baseball Heads to Cal State LA After Opening CCAA Play
After splitting its four-game CCAA-opening series with Cal State East Bay at home to move to 11-10 overall and 2-2 in conference play, Stan State baseball hits the road this weekend for a key conference series at Cal State LA. The Warriors are led offensively by Kian Sanchez, who is batting .452 with 28 hits, three home runs and 16 RBI, while AJ Carter is hitting .382 with two home runs and 17 RBI, and Mason Kelley has clubbed three home runs with a team-best 19 RBI. On the mound, Austin Balentine leads the staff with a 4-1 record, while Payton Hawkinson owns a 3-2 mark. Pierce Sailer and Eli Blurton have each recorded two saves this season, anchoring the back end of the bullpen. During the East Bay series, Cameron Rosen and Zach Geiss recorded victories, while Sailer earned two saves with 3.0 scoreless innings and six strikeouts to help secure the split. Stan State will face the Golden Eagles on March 13 at 6 p.m., March 14 in a doubleheader at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., and March 15 at noon as CCAA play continues.

Track & Field Delivers Strong Showing at Kim Duyst Invitational
Stan State track & field turned in an impressive weekend while hosting the Kim Duyst Invitational at the Al Brenda Track at Warrior Stadium, highlighted by Senior Day recognition and multiple all-time performances. Andrew Bishop moved into fourth in program history in the 100 meters (10.62) and seventh in the 200 meters (21.42), while the 4x100 relay team of Mendoza, Siebert, Sawyer and Bishop clocked 40.86 to rank fourth all-time. Ivan Mendoza (23-6¼) moved into fifth in school history in the long jump, and Ahlia Albergottie's 1:04.22 in the 400-meter hurdles ranks 10th all-time. The Warriors also saw strong efforts from Reyna Dismukes in the horizontal jumps and Alexis Nino in the hammer as Stan State builds momentum early in the outdoor season and now prepares to return to competition March 21 (Saturday) at the Mark Conover Classic in San Luis Obispo, Calif., hosted at the Miller & Capriotti Athletics Complex.

Softball Returns Home to Host CSUSB
Stan State softball is 11-9 overall and 0-4 in CCAA play after opening conference action last weekend at No. 1 Cal State San Marcos. The Warriors will now return home to host CSUSB in a four-game CCAA series March 13 (doubleheader at 1 p.m. / 3 p.m.) and March 14 (doubleheader at 11 a.m. / 1 p.m.). Stan State is hitting .260 as a team with 134 hits and 68 RBI through 20 games, led by Katelyn Bridgeman's .382 average and 26 hits, while Malia Babasa is batting .355 with 22 hits and nine RBI. Nat Camarena has added two home runs and 11 RBI, giving the lineup added power. In the circle, Alexis Camberos (3-1, 2.68 ERA) and Alexandria Himes (5-3, 3.17 ERA) continue to anchor the pitching staff, while Camberos has also recorded a save this season. The Warriors look to build momentum and secure their first conference wins of the year this weekend at home.

Warriors Open Key Four-Match Homestand
Stan State women's tennis returns home this week for a pivotal four-match stretch at the Stan State Tennis Courts, hosting Hawai'i Pacific (March 11), Illinois State (March 12), Dominican (March 15) and Chaminade (March 16). The Warriors look to regain momentum in PacWest play after a 7-0 conference-opening sweep of William Jessup and several tightly contested matches, with Katrine Damkjær and Emi Mikami coming off key singles victories. With four matches in six days, early doubles points and depth throughout the lineup will be critical as conference standings begin to take shape.

Men's Golf Set for Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout
Stan State men's golf returns to action March 9–10 at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout, hosted by Cal State East Bay at Corica Park in Alameda. The Warriors enter the 18-team event ranked No. 12 in the NCAA Division II West Region and will compete against 12 of the region's top programs, including four nationally ranked teams, in a key opportunity to strengthen postseason positioning ahead of the CCAA Championships and NCAA West/South Central Regional. Stan State is coming off a 20th-place finish at the Visit Stockton DII Invitational, where Carson Diaz led the way with a final-round 70, and will be represented by Owen Bascom, Riley Kirk, Diaz, Ricky Sullivan and Chase Bird, with Jesse Verheul competing as an individual.

Johnson Named CCAA Freshman of the Year; Lindsey Earns All-CCAA Honors
Stan State men's basketball freshman Malachi Johnson was named the 2025-26 CCAA Freshman of the Year and earned All-CCAA Second Team honors, while junior guard Donjae Lindsey received All-CCAA Honorable Mention recognition. Johnson, the program's first Freshman of the Year since 2002-03, led the Warriors with 12.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per game while shooting 50.3 percent from the field, totaling 360 points, 205 rebounds, six double-doubles, and 32 blocks. Lindsey averaged 12.0 points per game on 50.8 percent shooting and 38.3 percent from three-point range, scoring 20 or more points three times during the season.

Tau Earns All-CCAA Second Team; Three Warriors Recognized by CCAA
Stan State women's basketball sophomore forward MilaSarai Tau earned 2025-26 All-CCAA Second Team honors, while Eryn Gardner and Alyssa Premo were also recognized by the conference. Tau led the Warriors in scoring at 12.8 points per game while shooting 44.4 percent from the field and adding 5.4 rebounds per contest. Gardner averaged 9.4 points and 9.4 rebounds with 235 total boards, 45 steals, and 20 blocks, recording eight double-doubles, while Premo led the team with 285 total points and averaged 11.4 points per game, scoring in double figures 15 times this season.

Donna Pierce Warriors of the Week
This week's Donna Pierce Warriors of the Week honors go to Stan State track and field student-athletes Andrew Bishop and Reyna Dismukes and baseball reliever Pierce Sailer after standout performances across competition.

Andrew BishopAndrew Bishop turned in two top-10 program marks, sprinting to a 10.62 in the 100 meters, which ranks fourth in school history, and clocking 21.42 in the 200 meters, now seventh all-time at Stan State.



Reyna DismukesReyna Dismukes made her mark in the field events with a leap of 18'5.25" (5.62m) in the long jump and a 37'5.75" (11.42m) mark in the triple jump, continuing her strong season across both events.



Pierce SailerPierce Sailer locked it down on the mound, earning two saves across 2.2 scoreless innings. The right-hander allowed just two hits while striking out five, shutting the door in both appearances to secure Warrior wins.
