Stan State wraps up the regular season with a busy week across multiple sports, highlighted by postseason competition in track & field and key road contests for baseball. The Warriors will compete at the CCAA Track & Field Championships in San Marcos, while baseball travels to No. 10 Cal State Monterey Bay to close out conference play. Softball returns home to host Cal Poly Humboldt for its final series of the season, with Senior Day set for Saturday.
Men's Golf Finishes Sixth at CCAA Championships
Stan State placed sixth at the CCAA Championships in Stockton, finishing with a three-round total of 893 (+29) after closing with a final-round 293.
Riley Kirk led the Warriors with a 13th-place finish at 220 (+4), highlighted by a final-round 71, while
Owen Bascom (T-16, 222) and
Carson Diaz (T-20, 223) also finished inside the top 20. Stan State finished ahead of CSU Monterey Bay in a field featuring multiple nationally ranked programs.
Warriors Post Multiple Top-Eight Marks in CCAA
Stan State track & field has posted numerous scoring (top-eight) marks across all event groups in the CCAA.
On the track,
Andrew Bishop ranks No. 5 in the 100 meters and No. 6 in the 200, while
Jaevin Sawyer is No. 8 in the 100. In the hurdles,
Timothy Miles ranks No. 5 in the 110 hurdles and
Ahlia Albergottie sits No. 4 in the 400 hurdles. In the distance events,
Megan Silva (No. 4),
Crystal Hernandez (No. 6) and
Izzy Soto (No. 8) all rank in the 800 meters, with Silva also No. 6 in the 1500 and Isabela Moreno No. 5 in the steeplechase.
In the relays, the men's 4x100 team ranks No. 2 and the 4x400 relay sits No. 6 in the conference. In the jumps,
Eric Green leads the CCAA in the long jump (No. 1), with
Ivan Mendoza No. 3, while
Reyna Dismukes ranks No. 5 in the long jump and No. 6 in the triple jump.
In the throws,
Alexis Nino leads the conference in both the shot put (No. 1) and hammer (No. 1), while
Donielle Willis ranks No. 6 in both events. On the men's side,
Logan Edwards leads the hammer (No. 1), with
Luke Giannotta (No. 4) and
Mason Phillips (No. 6) also in scoring position, while Phillips ranks No. 2 in the shot put. In the multis,
Justice McDermont ranks No. 8 in the decathlon and No. 7 in the javelin, while
Elexi Pulido ranks No. 7 in the women's javelin.
Stan State will compete at the CCAA Track & Field Championships May 6–9 in San Marcos as the Warriors look to convert their scoring marks into team points.
Softball Returns Home to Close Regular Season; Senior Day Set for Saturday, May 2
Stan State dropped its four-game CCAA road series at Cal State Dominguez Hills, moving to 19-23 overall and 8-18 in conference play.
Marley Hogue led the Warriors with a .333 average (3-for-9), while
Katelyn Bridgeman added a home run and two RBIs.
Moxie Barton and Angelina Montesdeoca each recorded multi-hit efforts as Stan State totaled 17 hits in the series. In the circle,
Alexis Camberos posted a 3.75 ERA over 9.1 innings, while
Alexandria Himes and
Nat Camarena combined for 14.2 innings of work.
For the season, Bridgeman leads the team with a .397 average and 54 hits, while
Nat Camarena has 22 RBIs. In the circle, Himes leads the staff with a 9-5 record and a 2.63 ERA, followed by Camberos at 2.83. Stan State will host Cal Poly Humboldt May 1-2 to close out the regular season. Senior Day is set for Saturday, May 2, when the Warriors will honor
Malia Babasa,
McKenna Beach and
Emily Bigley.
Warriors Build NCAA Qualifying Marks Ahead of Selections
Stan State continues to strengthen its NCAA Division II qualifying profile with multiple provisional marks across the outdoor season.
Alexis Nino leads the way, ranking 19th nationally in the hammer throw and 20th in the shot put, while
Eric Green sits 30th in the long jump. The men's 4x100 relay ranks 38th nationally.
On the track,
Megan Silva ranks 50th in the 800 meters,
Bela Moreno is 51st in the 3000-meter steeplechase, and
Andrew Bishop sits 52nd in the 200 meters. These marks may continue to shift as teams compete in the final weeks of the regular season. The NCAA Division II Championship field will be announced May 12, with nationals set for May 21–23 in Emporia, Kansas.
Warriors End Regular Season on the Road This Week at No. 10 CSUMB
Stan State split its four-game CCAA series with Cal State Dominguez Hills, going 2-2 to move to 20-24 overall and 11-16 in conference play.
Chris Ortiz led the Warriors with a dominant weekend, hitting .615 (8-for-13) with three home runs and 11 RBIs while recording a hit in all four games.
Mason Kelley added four RBIs, while
Tyler Crudo and
Eric Perez each hit .500 as Stan State totaled 48 hits and 33 runs in the series. On the mound, Peyton Hawkinson and
Austin Balentine each earned wins, with Balentine tossing 6.0 innings with five strikeouts in the series finale.
Evan Fanconi added 7.0 innings of work, while the bullpen contributed key innings in the split.
For the season,
Kian Sanchez leads the team with a .416 average, while
Zach Lewis has a team-high 51 hits. Ortiz leads the team with 33 RBIs and six home runs. On the mound, Balentine leads the staff with seven wins, Fanconi is 3-0, and
Pierce Sailer has a team-high five saves. Stan State will travel to No. 10 Cal State Monterey Bay to close out the regular season.

Stan State's Donna Pierce Warrior of the Week is baseball's
Chris Ortiz following his standout performance in the Warriors' series against Cal State Dominguez Hills.
Chris Ortiz (Baseball)
Ortiz turned in a dominant all-around weekend, hitting .615 (8-for-13) with three home runs, 11 RBIs and six runs scored while posting a 1.385 slugging percentage and .737 on-base percentage. He recorded a hit in all four games, highlighted by a two-run home run in the 4-3 Game 3 win and another two-run homer in the 8-4 series finale, where he also scored three times. Defensively, Ortiz totaled 25 chances with a .960 fielding percentage and also made an appearance on the mound, tossing 2.0 innings with two strikeouts.
