Stan State Hosts Senior Day Amid Critical PacWest Playoff Push

4/6/2026 11:33:00 AM

TURLOCK, Calif. — Stan State women's tennis enters a pivotal week of PacWest play, traveling to face Jessup on Tuesday before returning home to host No. 23 Azusa Pacific on Wednesday in a match that will also serve as Senior Day.

With a 6-8 overall record, the Warriors currently sit in the middle of the conference standings, holding a spot inside the top eight as the postseason picture begins to take shape. With only a limited number of matches remaining, each result carries increased importance as teams position themselves for a conference tournament berth.

Recent Stretch

Stan State enters the week looking to regroup following a challenging weekend against Fresno Pacific and Dominican.

In both matches, the Warriors showed early control, particularly in doubles play, but were unable to sustain momentum through singles. The weekend highlighted an area of focus moving forward, as the Warriors will look to reestablish consistency in the lower half of the lineup, where they have found success throughout the season.

Warriors Update

Stan State's identity has been built on depth across the lineup, particularly at the middle and lower courts. Players such as Katrine Damkjær, Parker Orlando, Maiah White, and Emi Mikami have consistently delivered key points throughout conference play.

Maiah White continues to provide steady production, competing in long rallies and maintaining composure in extended matches, while Orlando has been a reliable presence in both singles and doubles despite a recent end to her doubles win streak alongside Damkjær.

As the Warriors enter the final stretch, returning to their strength at courts three through six will be critical in determining outcomes.

Scouting Jessup

Stan State opens the week Tuesday at Jessup, a team the Warriors defeated 7-0 earlier this season in Turlock.

Jessup enters the matchup on a four-match losing streak, including back-to-back 7-0 losses to Westmont and Fresno Pacific. The Warriors will look to take control early and build momentum heading into Wednesday's matchup.

Scouting No. 23 Azusa Pacific

The week's biggest test comes Wednesday as Stan State hosts No. 23 Azusa Pacific.

Azusa Pacific enters the match on a 12-match winning streak and has been dominant in recent outings, including wins over Point Loma (4-3), Cal State LA (7-0), and Biola (6-1). The Cougars have shown strength throughout the lineup, particularly at the top courts, while also maintaining depth across singles play.

The matchup presents a contrast in styles, as Azusa Pacific has consistently controlled matches from the top down, while Stan State has found success through the middle and lower courts.

Senior Day

Wednesday's match will also mark Senior Day for Stan State, as the program honors Emma Yu and Maiah White.

Yu has competed at the top of the lineup throughout her career, bringing consistency and leadership to both singles and doubles play. White has anchored the lower courts and delivered key points in conference matches, contributing to the team's identity built on depth and resilience.

What to Watch

With postseason positioning on the line, this week presents two very different challenges.

Against Jessup, the focus will be on execution and building momentum. Against Azusa Pacific, the Warriors will be tested against one of the top teams in the conference.

For Stan State, the path forward is clear. Reestablishing control at the lower courts and sustaining momentum through singles play will be key as the Warriors look to hold their position in the standings and push toward the postseason.
