SAN MARCOS, Calif. — Stan State track & field opened competition at the CCAA Championships with a strong showing across multiple event groups Friday, highlighted by All-CCAA honors in the hammer throw, an all-time performance in the hurdles, and key point-scoring efforts in both the throws and distance events.
The Warriors were led by a dominant performance in the hammer throw, where Logan Edwards (184-0 / 56.09m) and Alexis Nino (166-3 / 50.68m) earned First Team All-CCAA honors, while Luke Giannotta (178-8 / 54.47m) secured Second Team All-CCAA recognition. On the track, Timothy Miles moved into No. 6 all-time in program history in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.59, while Bela Moreno added valuable team points in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a fifth-place finish.
Decathlon
The Warriors were led in the decathlon by Joseph Easterwood, who scored 6027 points to move to No. 8 all-time in Stan State history, while also scoring a team point.
Easterwood opened with a first-place finish in the 100 meters (11.02) and added strong marks across the board, including 20-4.25 (6.20m) in the long jump, 37-7.75 (11.47m) in the shot put, and 163-7 (49.88m) in the javelin.
Justice McDermont added 5821 points, highlighted by a 163-7 (49.88m) mark in the javelin and a 4:39.12 finish in the 1500 meters.
Joel Pitts recorded 4435 points, posting strong efforts in the sprints and jumps, including 11.36 in the 100 meters and 19-6 (5.94m) in the long jump.
Hammer Throw / Field Events
Stan State dominated the hammer throw, earning multiple All-CCAA honors.
Logan Edwards captured First Team All-CCAA with a mark of 184-0 (56.09m), while Alexis Nino also earned First Team honors on the women's side with a throw of 166-3 (50.68m).
Luke Giannotta secured Second Team All-CCAA with a mark of 178-8 (54.47m), while Mason Phillips (160-4 / 48.88m) added key points for the Warriors.
Additional marks came from Donielle Willis (138-2 / 42.13m), Sienna Hawkins (129-1 / 39.34m), and Grace Langenfield (127-0 / 38.71m).
In the triple jump, Reyna Dismukes scored 1.5 points with a mark of 37-1.75 (11.32m), while Eligah Lawrence (43-8.5 / 13.32m) and Richiya Washington (32-10.5 / 10.02m) competed on the day.
Track Events / Prelims
The Warriors advanced multiple athletes through preliminary rounds.
In the sprints, Andrew Bishop (21.39), Blayne Siebert (21.66), and Jaevin Sawyer (21.86) advanced in the 200 meters, while Julian Sanchez (23.45) also competed.
In the 800 meters, Izzy Soto (2:14.64), Megan Silva (2:15.87), Crystal Hernandez (2:16.41), Austin Hein (1:58.87), and Evan Silva (2:00.96) all moved through the prelims.
In the hurdles, Timothy Miles clocked 14.59 in the 110-meter hurdles, moving to No. 6 all-time in Stan State history, while Justice McDermott (16.53) also advanced.
Distance Finals
Bela Moreno scored five points for the Warriors in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:00.16, while Risa Reynier added a finish in the event.

Team Standings
Through two days of competition, Stan State sits fourth on the men's side with 30 points and sixth on the women's side with 18.5 points.
On the men's side, Chico State leads with 114 points, followed by Cal Poly Pomona (63) and Cal Poly Humboldt (40). The Warriors remain within striking distance heading into the final day.
In the women's standings, Cal Poly Pomona leads with 108.5 points, followed by Chico State (96.5) and Cal State San Marcos (39), with Stan State positioned in the middle of the pack entering Saturday's finals.

Day Three
Stan State returns to action Saturday with a full slate of finals and field events, including the 4x100 relay, 1500 meters, 110-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles, 100 meters, and 200 meters.
The Warriors will also compete in the shot put and javelin, along with multiple distance events including the 5000 meters, as they look to continue building momentum on the final day of competition.
