5/2/2026 6:10:00 PM

SAN MARCOS, Calif. — Stan State track & field capped a strong showing at the CCAA Championships with a conference title, multiple All-CCAA honors, and several all-time marks across a full weekend of competition. The Warriors were highlighted by a record-breaking performance in the men's 4x100 relay, as Blayne Siebert, Andrew Bishop, Ivan Mendoza, and Jaevin Sawyer captured the conference title in 40.45, breaking their own school record and earning First Team All-CCAA honors.

Freshman Andrew Bishop was named the CCAA Freshman of the Meet, highlighting a standout debut at the conference championships.

"I'm proud of how our team fought for every point and had resolve," said Troy Johnson, head coach of Stan State Women's Indoor and Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field. "The support they showed one another no matter up or down was the true heartbeat of a Warrior. We look forward to next year with the intentions to keep elevating the program. Go Warriors!"

Stan State's throwers led the way throughout the meet, combining for multiple All-CCAA finishes. Logan Edwards and Alexis Nino each earned First Team All-CCAA honors in the hammer throw with marks of 184-0 (56.09m) and 166-3 (50.68m), respectively, while Luke Giannotta secured Second Team honors at 178-8 (54.47m). Nino and Mason Phillips added Third Team All-CCAA recognition in the shot put to round out a dominant weekend in the throws.

On the track, Bishop delivered one of the top performances in program history, earning Second Team All-CCAA honors in the 200 meters with a time of 20.98, the second-fastest in Stan State history, while also scoring in the 100 meters alongside Jaevin Sawyer, who placed fourth. Timothy Miles added a Third Team All-CCAA finish in the 110-meter hurdles (14.56), improving his standing to No. 6 all-time in program history, while also competing in the 400-meter hurdles.

In the distance events, Izzy Soto earned Third Team All-CCAA honors in the 1500 meters, while Megan Silva added a fifth-place finish to contribute valuable team points. Bela Moreno also scored in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a fifth-place finish. The men's 4x400 relay team of Siebert, Bishop, Mendoza, and Sawyer added points with a time of 3:19.19 to close out the meet.

The multi-events also played a key role in the Warriors' success, as Joseph Easterwood posted 6,027 points in the decathlon to move into eighth all-time in program history, while also winning the 100 meters within the event. Justice McDermont added 5,821 points, and Joel Pitts totaled 4,435 points to round out the group.

Stan State will find out which student-athletes will represent the program at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 12 on NCAA.com, with the national meet set for later this month in Emporia, Kansas.
