TURLOCK, Calif.---Two legendary figures in Stan State Athletics history, former men's basketball coach Larry Reynolds and former cross country and track & field coach and administrator Kim Duyst, will be inducted into the California Collegiate Athletic Association Hall of Fame as part of the conference's 2026 Hall of Fame class.

The pair combined for more than five decades of service to Stan State and helped elevate Warrior Athletics in the conference, regional and national stages through their coaching, leadership and commitment to student-athlete success.

Kim Duyst, one of the most influential figures in Stan State Athletics history, will be inducted into the California Collegiate Athletic Association Hall of Fame after a distinguished career as a coach, administrator and national leader in NCAA Division II athletics.

Duyst dedicated 32 years to Stan State, beginning in 1986 as the men's and women's cross country and track & field coach and concluding her career in 2018 as Senior Associate Athletic Director. During her 21 seasons as head coach, she guided more than 60 All-Americans and coached nine individual NCAA national champions. Her teams consistently ranked among the nation's best, highlighted by the Warriors' men's track & field team finishing fourth at the 1994 NCAA Championships while also capturing a conference title, and the women's cross country team qualifying for the 2003 NCAA National Championships.

Her impact extended far beyond competition. Duyst served on the NCAA Track & Field Rules Committee from 1999-2003, was president of the NCAA Division II Coaches Association, and served as vice president of the U.S. Track Coaches Association from 1992-94. She also represented the United States on coaching staffs at the 1998 World Cross Country Championships in Morocco, the 2001 World Track & Field Championships in Edmonton, and the 2003 World Track & Field Championships in Paris.

Among her many honors, Duyst was named 1989 Conference Co-Coach of the Year, 1991 Conference Cross Country Coach of the Year, 2003 NCAA Women's Indoor Regional Coach of the Year, and 2004 NCAA Men's and Women's Indoor Regional Coach of the Year. She was inducted into the Stan State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2005, and on Dec. 3, 2005, was inducted into the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Coaches Hall of Fame in recognition of her outstanding tenure as Stan State's head cross country and track & field coach.

In 2023, Duyst was recognized as one of the NCAA Division II 50th Anniversary Gold Award nominees, an honor celebrating individuals who have made a significant and lasting impact on Division II athletics. She later returned to serve the conference as the CCAA Cross Country and Track & Field Coordinator, continuing her commitment to enhancing the student-athlete experience.

Her induction into the CCAA Hall of Fame recognizes decades of excellence and leadership that helped shape Stan State, the CCAA and NCAA Division II athletics.

Larry Reynolds
Larry Reynolds will be inducted into the California Collegiate Athletic Association Hall of Fame following a coaching career that spanned nearly four decades and established him as one of the most successful men's basketball coaches in conference history.

Reynolds, who passed away in January 2024 following a long battle with Parkinson's disease, served as Stan State's head men's basketball coach from 2009-18, leading the Warriors to 121 victories and one of the most successful eras in program history. His 2013-14 squad captured the CCAA Tournament championship, earned a berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament, and set a school record with 23 wins. Under his leadership, the Warriors made four CCAA Tournament appearances and produced some of the program's first major NCAA Division II honors, including All-American Reggie Jones and All-West Region selections Reggie Jones and Marcus Bell.

A four-time CCAA Coach of the Year, Reynolds built a legacy of success throughout the conference. Prior to arriving at Stan State, he served as head coach at Cal State San Bernardino, where he compiled a 110-35 record in five seasons while winning three CCAA championships and two NCAA West Regional titles. In 1999, he was named NABC District VIII Coach of the Year after leading the Coyotes to a regional championship and a national quarterfinal appearance.

Reynolds also enjoyed success at the Division I level as head coach at Long Beach State, guiding the Beach to three consecutive postseason appearances, including a Big West Conference championship and an NCAA Tournament berth in 2007. That season, he was named Big West Coach of the Year after leading Long Beach State to a 24-8 record.

Before becoming a head coach, Reynolds spent 16 seasons as an assistant and associate head coach at his alma mater, UC Riverside, helping the Highlanders capture eight CCAA championships, make 10 NCAA Tournament appearances, and reach the NCAA Division II national championship game in 1994.

A former UC Riverside student-athlete and conference Most Valuable Player, Reynolds was inducted into both the UC Riverside Athletics Hall of Fame and the Cal State San Bernardino Hall of Fame. Remembered as a mentor, leader and teacher, Reynolds left a lasting impact on countless student-athletes and coaches throughout his distinguished career.

His induction into the CCAA Hall of Fame recognizes a lifetime of achievement and service to collegiate basketball, as well as his significant contributions to the success and growth of the conference.

Members of the 2026 CCAA Hall of Fame class will be honored at the 2027 CCAA Men's & Women's Basketball Tournament in Coussoulis Arena on the campus of Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday, March 6.
