KANSAS CITY, Mo.--- The United Soccer Coaches announced that the Stan State women's soccer team has earned the 2025-26 College Team Academic Award, recognizing the program's commitment to excellence in the classroom.
The Warriors are among the women's soccer programs nationwide to receive the honor and have now earned the award for the 20th consecutive year, receiving the distinction every year since 2006.
A total of 781 soccer teams (329 men, 452 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2025-26 academic year. Of that total, 178 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized.
To be eligible for the United Soccer Coaches College Team Academic Award, a program must post a composite team grade-point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. All student-athletes listed on the team's official roster during the fall season are included in the calculation.
Aliah Avila earned United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America honors and was joined by Makeila Yancey on the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-West Region Team.
Avila, Grace Fabionar, Olivia Kamm, Katie Smith, and Yancey were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
Amanda Do, Francesca Hahn, Olivia Kamm, and Katherine Smith were inducted into the Stan State chapter of the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society.
Twenty Warriors earned recognition on the 2025-26 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Academic Team, including Malia Allen, Aliah Avila, Amanda Do, Hibah Elbeshity, Grace Fabionar, Jocelyn Figueroa, Francesca Hahn, Shauna Johnston, Olivia Kamm, Julia Kraemer, Franchesca Maiden, Olivia Maragos, Zara Mujica, Alexi Ochoa, Kayla Perez, Jocelin Roa, Katherine Smith, Haylee Sousa, Krystal Tovar, and Makeila Yancey.
The Warriors also earned extensive recognition on the Stan State Department Honor Roll. Fall honorees included Malia Allen, Aliah Avila, Savannah Cresswell, Amanda Do, Grace Fabionar, Jocelyn Figueroa, Francesca Hahn, Lauren Johnston, Shauna Johnston, Olivia Kamm, Olivia Maragos, Zara Mujica, Kyndra Obermeyer, Alexi Ochoa, Kayla Perez, Brynn Phillips, Brooklynn Pierce, Jocelin Roa, Kellyann Rodriguez, Katherine Smith, Haylee Sousa, Krystal Tovar, Kayla Umana, and Makeila Yancey. Spring Department Honor Roll selections included Aliah Avila, Vivianna Bravo, Amanda Do, Hibah Elbeshity, Grace Fabionar, Jocelyn Figueroa, Francesca Hahn, Shauna Johnston, Olivia Kamm, Julia Kraemer, Franchesca Maiden, Olivia Maragos, Zara Mujica, Alexi Ochoa, Kayla Perez, Brynn Phillips, Jocelin Roa, Katherine Smith, Haylee Sousa, Mandy Thao, Krystal Tovar, and Makeila Yancey.
Stan State finished the 2025 season with an 11-5-4 overall record and a third-place finish in the CCAA standings while receiving votes in the final United Soccer Coaches Division II National Poll.
The Warriors advanced to the CCAA Championship semifinals for the third time in the last four seasons and qualified for the conference tournament for the sixth consecutive year.
Avila anchored the Warrior attack and earned United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America honors, United Soccer Coaches and D2CCA First Team All-West Region honors, College Sports Communicators Academic All-District recognition, All-CCAA First Team honors, and CCAA All-Tournament Team recognition.
Olivia Maragos was named the CCAA Freshman of the Year, earned All-CCAA Second Team honors, and was selected as Stan State's Female Freshman of the Year.
Yancey received United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-West Region honors, United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-West Region recognition, College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors, All-CCAA Honorable Mention recognition, and was selected as Stan State's recipient of the CCAA Hal Charnofsky Memorial Award.
Grace Fabionar, Olivia Kamm, and Katherine Smith also earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors. Kamm was also inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma.
Zara Mujica earned All-CCAA Honorable Mention honors after posting a 0.97 goals-against average and recording 6.5 shutouts during the season.
The United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award is presented annually to collegiate soccer programs that demonstrate excellence in the classroom while balancing the demands of intercollegiate athletics.
The Warriors have consistently been recognized among the nation's top academic soccer programs, with this year's honor extending a streak that spans two decades. Stan State has received the Team Academic Award every year since 2006, reflecting the program's long-standing commitment to academic achievement and student success.
The Warriors, coached by Adam James, enter the 2026 campaign receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Preseason Poll, released Tuesday. Stan State opens the season at the Humboldt Kickoff, facing Concordia Irvine on Aug. 27 and Central Washington on Aug. 29 in Arcata. The Warriors then travel to Point Loma on Sept. 3 before hosting Dominican in their home opener on Sept. 6 at Warrior Stadium. Stan State opens CCAA play on Sept. 18, welcoming Cal State Monterey Bay to Warrior Stadium.
