KANSAS CITY, Mo.--- Stan State women's soccer is ranked ninth in the West Region in the first regular-season United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II regional poll of the 2026 season, released Tuesday.
The Warriors enter the week 1-1 after splitting their first two matches of the season at the Humboldt Kickoff Classic in Arcata. Stan State fell 2-1 to No. 13 Concordia University Irvine in its season opener before bouncing back with a 2-0 shutout victory over Central Washington.
Kyndra Obermeyer scored the first goal of her collegiate career against Concordia Irvine. In the victory over Central Washington,
Aliah Avila scored her 18th career goal and 12th game-winner, while
Olivia Maragos added her first goal of the season.
Zara Mujica made seven saves to record her eighth career shutout.
The victory also marked
Adam James' first career win as a collegiate head coach. James was named the fifth head coach in Stan State women's soccer program history prior to the 2026 season after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Azusa Pacific.
Avila enters the week tied for fifth in program history with 18 career goals, tied for second with 12 game-winning goals and tied for sixth with 54 career points. Mujica ranks eighth in program history with eight career shutouts and 10th with 76 career saves.
Cal Poly Pomona holds the top spot in the West Region with a 2-0 record, followed by Concordia Irvine at No. 2 and Simon Fraser University at No. 3. Cal Poly Pomona is ranked No. 2 nationally, Concordia Irvine is No. 13 and Simon Fraser is No. 21 in this week's United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II national poll.
Western Washington, which is receiving votes in the national poll, is fourth in the West Region, while Cal State Los Angeles rounds out the region's top five. Seattle Pacific is sixth, followed by Point Loma at No. 7 and Chico State at No. 8. Stan State is ninth, while Cal Poly Humboldt rounds out the top 10.
Four CCAA teams are represented in the first regional poll of the season. Cal Poly Pomona leads the conference contingent at No. 1, with Cal State Los Angeles fifth, Chico State eighth and Stan State ninth. Cal Poly Humboldt, an associate member of the CCAA in women's soccer, is 10th.
The United Soccer Coaches West Region poll is separate from the official NCAA Division II regional rankings used as part of the NCAA postseason selection process. The official NCAA Division II women's soccer regional rankings will be released later this season.

Stan State continues its non-conference schedule with a pair of matches this week. The Warriors travel to San Diego to face No. 7 West Region-ranked Point Loma on Thursday, Sept. 3, at 3:45 p.m. at PLNU Soccer Field before returning to Turlock for their 2026 home opener against Dominican on Sunday, Sept. 6, at 6 p.m. at Warrior Stadium.
