TURLOCK -- Debbie Vander Schaaf had 13 kills to lead all players as Cal State Stanislaus made quick work of visiting Bethany University in three, 30-14, 30-24, 30-28, Wednesday night in Warrior Arena.

Vander Schaaf turned in 13 kills on .550 hitting in just two games. The Ripon native also had two service aces and four digs to lead the Warriors as they improved to 4-10 on the season. Bethany, an NAIA program from Scotts Valley just south of San Jose, is 6-5.

Nicole Musso had another solid all-around performance with eight kills, three aces, three digs and three blocks. Karly Van Foeken had seven kills while Megan Loghry led the blocking with five total, including two solos.

"I am happy with how we played, I thought Debbie show great leadership tonight again," Warrior head coach Chris Difani said. "We did some good things and doing things better, in terms of communicating and not getting down on ourselves."

"We excuted our game plans...I wanted to come out fast and quick. I am pleased with the night and the test will be traveling this weekend to face another conference team.

The Warriors had little trouble in the first game jumping out to early lead and finished off the Bruins 30-14. CSUS hit .452 on the attack with 17 kills and made just three erros on 31 tries.

Bethany did manage to battle a little in games two and three as Difani tried different lineups and played every Warrior to allow them to gain playing time and experience.

"That was something I wanted to do and was glad we were in the position to allow me to put i some other players to try new positions," Difani added.

The platooning of the starting setters also turned out well with Colleen Sullivan getting 20 assists and Nicki Brown 12 in just one game. Megan Britton had 12 digs to lead the team defensively.

Treva Crocker and Kara Hazen each had six kills to lead Bethany. Four other players each had four kills.

Cal State Stanislaus has only one conference match this weekend with a Friday match at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
