TURLOCK -- For the second night in a row, the Warriors played their opponent close for three-quarters of the game, only to allow a big run and fall too far behind. Saturday night in Warrior Arena, it was Cal State San Bernardino using two separate scoring runs to pull away for a 76-55 victory.

The Warriors fall to 6-13 overall and 2-12 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Despite two losses this weekend, the Warriors did not lose any ground in the race for a spot in the CCAA Championship Tournament, as they still sit three games back of the eighth and final spot with six games to play. With a loss by Humboldt State Saturday night, the Coyotes take sole possession of first place in the CCAA with an 11-3 mark in conference play and a 13-7 overall showing.

Brandon Brown led all players with 21 points and 12 rebounds, notching a double-double for the night. Devin Montgomery was CSUSB's other double-digit scorer with 10 points. The Coyotes shot well throughout the game Saturday, finishing with a 52.7 percent field goal percentage, while the Warriors shot just 34.5 percent for the game.

The Warriors had two players score in double digits, with Michael Dyson leading the way at 12, and Benny Koochoie coming in at 11 points. Koochoie also had three steals, two assists and two rebounds. Warriors big man Matt Ibewiro was held to just four points and six rebounds after an impressive three-game stretch where he scored in double-digits each game and had a double-double against San Francisco State on Feb. 3.

The Coyotes jumped out to a quick 16-5 lead in the first half, but Cal State Stanislaus toughened up and brought the deficit back down to 10, where it stayed for much of the half before heading into the break trailing by eight, 38-30. Again the Coyotes came out strong in the second half with a 9-0 run, running the lead up to 19 at 49-30 with 14 minutes, 10 seconds to play, but the Warriors answered with an 8-0 run to cut the lead to 11 with 10:08 left in the game.

That was as close as the Warriors would get, however, as Cal State San Bernardino went on another 9-0 run to push the lead back to 20. The Coyotes would lead by as much as 22 in the half, as they ran away with their fifth-straight win.

The Warriors now head out on the road for a five-game stretch before returning home for their final home game of the season at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 27 against UC San Diego. The game is also the Warriors' final regular season game of 2008-09.
