SAN BERNARDINO -- Cal State San Bernardino ended their own three-game losing streak Friday with a 7-2 win in game one and Cal State Stanislaus snapped their own five-game losing streak in game two with a 4-2 victory, as the Coyotes and Warriors split a California Collegiate Athletic Association doubleheader at Arrowhead Credit Union Ballpark.

With the split, the Warriors go to 17-8 overall and 9-7 in the CCAA. The Coyotes go to 14-13 overall and 10-8 in CCAA play. The two teams have now won four games each in their last eight games against each other dating back to 2007.

Cal State San Bernardino got a solid start from Daniel Stenavich in game one. He held the Warriors to two runs and scattered five hits while striking out five and walking three in a complete game victory, moving his season record to 2-0.

The Warriors took an early 2-0 lead in the second inning after Jake Oketani led off the inning with a triple. Leandro Dottavio drove him home with an RBI groundout for the first run of the game. The Warriors then had a quick two-out rally when David Contreras singled, stole a base, and was then singled home by Alex Zanini.

That was all the offense the Warriors would muster, however, in game one. Cody Madison cut the lead in half with a one-out solo homerun on the first pitch he saw in the bottom of the second. Chris Olsen led off the third inning with a solo shot on the second pitch he saw to tie the game at 2-2. The Coyotes would get two more runs in the inning with two doubles, a single and a sacrifice fliy to take a 4-2 lead.

An unearned run for Warriors' starter Spencer Snodgrass pushed the CSUSB lead to 5-2 and would lead to his removal after 5 2/3 innings pitched. He struck out five and walked two in falling to 3-2 on the season. The Coyotes would add two more runs off Tony Smith in the seventh inning with three straight two-out hits to make the score 7-2.

Kyle Madison led the Coyotes offensively in game one, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Johnnie Haas went 2-for-4 win two runs scored and Chris Olsen was 2-for-4 with a homerun.

Dakota Watts got back on the winning track in game two, striking out six in four innings of work to move to 6-1 on the year. The Warriors capitalized in the first inning on the poor control of Coyotes' starter Joe Martinez, who walked three and gave up two hits in allowing the Warriors to take an early 2-0 lead.

The Warriors would push it to 3-0 in the second inning on a triple from Jake Thelen and an RBI double by Kyle Loretelli. Cal State San Bernardino climbed back into it with an unearned run in the second and a run in the fourth to make it 3-2, knocking Watts out of the game. Watts walked three and hit a batter in the fourth inning, but struck out two and fielded a groundout to get out of the inning.

The Cal State Stanislaus bullpen was up to the task in preserving the win, as Andrew Stueve and Eric Cendejas combined for three innings of work, retiring nine of 11 batters with four strikeouts and only two balls out of the infield. Cendejas earned his fourth save of the season.

The Warriors and Coyotes continue their four-game set at noon Saturday on the campus of Cal Baptist, 15 minutes south of San Bernardino in Riverside.
