Sanchez, CCAA/FloCollege Baseball Player of the Week, Powers Warriors in Series Split with No. 17 Cal State Monterey Bay

TURLOCK, Calif. — Kian Sanchez, recently named the CCAA/Flocollege Baseball Player of the Week, had a standout performance in Stan State's four-game series at No. 17 Cal State Monterey Bay, hitting .462 with six hits, three home runs, one double, seven RBIs, and six runs scored. He posted a slugging percentage of 1.231 and an on-base percentage of .611, while also going 2-for-2 in stolen base attempts.

This is the first career CCAA Player of the Week award for Sanchez, and it's the first for Stanislaus State since the 2019 season. Additionally, Austin Balentine was named CCAA Pitcher of the Week for the periods of Jan. 30-Feb. 1 and Feb. 16-22. Pierce Sailer earned CCAA Pitcher of the Week honors for the week of March 2-8.

In the series opener on April 30, which ended in a 10-2 loss, Sanchez went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, two RBIs, and a home run. His solo effort at the plate helped keep the game competitive. In the second game on May 1, a 6-3 loss, Sanchez went 1-for-3 with an RBI, a walk, and a stolen base. Despite the loss, he continued to contribute offensively with his consistent plate discipline and timely hitting.

Later that same day, in the nightcap, Sanchez played a pivotal role in the Warriors' 10-7 victory. He went 2-for-4, hitting two home runs and driving in four RBIs while scoring two runs. His powerful bat was crucial in lifting Stan State to victory, with his clutch hitting providing the spark needed for the team. In the series finale on May 2, Sanchez finished 2-for-2 with one RBI, two walks, and a stolen base. His all-around performance helped the Warriors dominate in a 12-2 win, securing the series split.

The Warriors earned their fourth CCAA series split of the season and a series win over Cal Poly Pomona.

Sanchez's final stats for the season include 28 games played, 102 at-bats, 23 runs scored, 43 hits, 8 doubles, 1 triple, 6 home runs, 25 RBIs, and 71 total bases. He also boasts a .696 slugging percentage, a .517 on-base percentage, 10 walks, 6 hit-by-pitches, 10 strikeouts, and perfect 7-for-7 stolen base attempts. Defensively, Sanchez has posted a .972 fielding percentage with 180 putouts and 31 assists.
