TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stanislaus State Athletics Department Hall of Famer Joe Ryan has been selected to the American League roster for the 2026 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, earning his second career MLB All-Star selection. The former Warrior All-American pitcher continues to establish himself as one of the American League's premier starters with the Minnesota Twins.

Ryan, who was inducted into the Stan State Athletics Department Hall of Fame on January 24, 2026, following one of the most decorated seasons in Warrior baseball history, continues to establish himself as one of the American League's premier starting pitchers with the Minnesota Twins. He joins teammate Byron Buxton as Minnesota's representatives for the 2026 MLB All-Star Game, which will be played on Tuesday, July 14, at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

In his All-Star Game debut last season, Ryan pitched a perfect fourth inning for the American League, retiring all three batters he faced and striking out Manny Machado and Kyle Tucker.

Ryan has been one of the American League's top pitchers this season, posting a 6-5 record with a 3.36 ERA through 19 starts. The San Anselmo, Calif., native has struck out 122 batters while walking just 23 over 104.1 innings, holding opponents to a .219 batting average and compiling a 1.04 WHIP. Ryan enters the All-Star break on a high note after earning the win against the New York Yankees on July 5, allowing just three hits over seven scoreless innings while striking out nine.

Before making his mark as a two-time Major League Baseball All-Star with the Minnesota Twins, Ryan was a dominant ace for the Warriors in 2018. That season, he was named CCAA Pitcher of the Year, earned First Team All-America honors from CoSIDA, ABCA and NCBWA, was recognized as the NCAA Division II West Region Pitcher of the Year and was selected to the All-CCAA First Team. Ryan's 2018 season remains one of the finest by a pitcher in program history. His eight victories are tied for second in Stan State single-season history, while his 14 starts are tied for fifth all-time. Following his standout season, Ryan was selected in the seventh round (210th overall) of the 2018 MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays.

Ryan made his Major League debut with the Minnesota Twins on September 1, 2021, and quickly emerged as one of baseball's premier starting pitchers. A 2022 MLB All-Rookie First Team selection, Ryan has since become a cornerstone of the Twins' rotation and earned American League All-Star honors in both 2025 and 2026. Through July 5, 2026, he owns a 52-41 career record with a 3.73 ERA, 841 strikeouts and a 1.06 WHIP in 745.2 innings pitched over 133 career starts. His rise from Warrior standout to Major League All-Star and Stan State Athletics Department Hall of Famer is one of the most remarkable stories in program history.
