CARSON -- One look in the record books, it may seem like Cal State Dominguez Hills have dominated Cal State Stanislaus in women's soccer. Such is not necessary the case despite the teams' series win-loss records.

Cal State Dominguez Hills defeated the Warriors, 1-0, on Friday to remain unbeaten in 17 matches against Cal State Stanislaus. The Toros, ranked No. 9 in the West Region, are now 6-2 overall and 5-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

The Warriors, 5-5 overall, 1-5 in the CCAA, have now lost to Dominguez Hills by one goal in seven of the last nine matches, including five straight.

"This loss is tough to take because we all feel like we played very well both offensively and defensively," CSUS head coach Gabriel Bolton said. " Our possession in the match was fantastic. We created some great chances. We just need that killer instinct in the last third and in front of the goal."

After the teams battled to a scoreless tie in the first half, CSUDH's Vadira Gomez scored early in the second half to give the Toros the 1-0 lead they never relinquish. Britney Vance deflected the ball, which went off a Warrior defender and ended up at Gomez's feet as she went top shelf for the score. at 46:26.

CSUS goalkeeper Jessica Sitarz earned two saves while Dominguez Hills' Al Congdon had three saves.

After a 3-2 win during a first round game of the 2005 CCAA Conference Championship tournament in Turlock, the Toros have taken three straight 2-1 decisions in each of the last three seasons.

The Warriors will try to rebound on Sunday when they take on the Golden Eagles at Cal State L.A.
