Pacific proves to be too much for the Warriors

Stockton – The Cal State Stanislaus men's basketball team loses handily 89-52 to Division I Pacific Saturday night.

Leading the Warriors was Evan Scott with 16 points.  Reggie Jones also had a double digit night with 10 points.  

The Warriors now have an overall record of 2-5.  Pacific, member of the Big West Conference is now 5-4 overall.

Stanislaus has been unable to score more than 20 points in the first half in the last two contests they have played.  At the end of the first half, the Warriors had only accrued 19 points, a 26 point deficit to the Tigers.  

In the second half, Pacific came out just as strong as they had left the first.  Although the Warriors improved their shooting percentage to 44.4 from the floor, they could not hold off the Division I team. The largest deficit in the game and that the Warriors have seen this season was at 3:47 in the second half when the Tiger took a 38 point lead with a score of 86-48.

Contributing to the Stanislaus' efforts was Dwight Jones, Dan Daviess, and Brett Sayad with six points a piece.  Scott, Sayad, and Daviess each tallied six points from the arch alone.  

Mactar Gueye led the Warriors in rebounds with five snags, four of which were defensive boards.  D. Jones dished out six assists on top of his points production.

Pacific senior Demetrece Young set a season and career high of 25 points.  Following closely was Allen Huddleston with 17 points and Pat Eveland with 15 points.  Young and Huddleston combined shot 9 for 14 from the arch.  

The Warriors will be back in action Saturday, Dec. 18 when they host Cal Baptist.
