Warriors fall twice to SF State, 2-0

SAN FRANCISCO -- Despite solid pitching outings by the Warrior starters, the Cal State Stanislaus softball team dropped a pair at San Francisco State with identical scores of 2-0.

The Warriors were swept by the Gators in the four-game set and fell to 1-10-1 overall and 0-8 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

San Francisco State is riding high on a nine-game winning streak and improved to 9-3, 7-1 in conference play.

Freshman pitcher Brittani Weatherford toss six strong innings and allowed just four hits in game one. She struck out nine batters and walked just one. Both runs allowed were unearned when the Gators scored twice in the first inning.

Back to back errors in the first half allowed SF State to put up a run when Kylie Herrada plated after reaching on an outfielder error and scored during a bunt play on a throwing error. Kendra Wood then doubled in another run to help SFSU go up 2-0.

Wood again keyed the Gators rally in game two with a leadoff double in the fourth inning. She came around to score on a Alyssa Esquibel single. Pinch runner Danielle Mestas later scored on an infield hit by Cara Spence.

Brittany Balanesi went 2-for-2 with a double and Erica McIntyre had a two-out triple in the first inning. Jennifer Arnold suffer the loss in the circle as she allowed two runs on six hits while fanning four with one walk.
