TURLOCK — A solid pitching performance by a senior and a timely hit by another senior -- plus finally the opportunity to play on home field -- was the formula the Warriors needed on Friday as they picked up a doubleheader split with Cal State San Bernardino.

Jennifer Arnold tossed a complete game and Nikky Rissetto's key single up the middle in the sixth led Cal State Stanislaus over the Coyotes, 2-1, in game two of the conference twinbill.

Cal State San Bernardino won game one 4-3 as the Warriors weren't able to cash in on scoring opportunities.

The Warriors snapped a seven-game skid to up their record to 4-19-1 and 2-16 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. CSUSB is now 12-17 and 10-8.

Cal State Stanislaus had played 10 previous games, including two CCAA four-game sets, across town at Pedretti Park. Prior to Friday's games, the Warriors' last played on the campus field on Feb. 3.

In the second game of the doubleheader, the Warriors took an 1-0 lead in the third on a Missy Corral single to right-center to score Sarah Locarnini from second. Locarnini had led off the inning with a single and stole second.

That lead was what Arnold needed on one of her best performances thus far this season. She cruised in the middle part of the game and retired 10 of 11 including seven straight batters. In the end, she gave up just one run on six hits and struck out four in the complete game victory.

Cal State San Bernardino got even in the sixth inning off Arnold with a bloop double by Jaquelyn Holtzclaw, who scored on a two-out single by Jamie Leffingwell.

In the home half of the sixth, CSUS regained the lead. Brittany Balanesi was hit by a pitch from San Bernardino starter Carly Land to start the rally. Balanesi moved over to second on a bunt play to set up the at bat by Rissetto. Rissetto worked her at-bat to a full count and delivered a single up the middle to score the go-ahead run.

Arnold then finished of the Coyotes in the seventh on two grounders and a line drive to Rissetto to end the game.

In the opener, CSUSB scored three runs in the fourth to go up 3-1. Erica McIntyre had given the Warriors a 1-0 lead in the first with a run scoring triple.

Stanislaus got a run back in the fourth on a bases loaded walk but stranded all three runners on a fly out. In the fifth, after plating a run on a bases loaded wild pitch, an infield pop-up ended that rally. In all, the Warriors left 11 runners on base -- eight of them in scoring position.

Brittani Weatherford got the loss in game one. She tossed all seven innings, gave up four runs on six hits. She issueed three walks and struck out one. She gave up a solo homer to Britney Butler in the fifth inning that turned out to be the Coyotes' winning run.

Locarnini and Rissetto both had two hits in the first game. The Warriors also got nine walks from three CSUSB pitchers.

These two teams will complete their four-game set on Saturday with the first game set to start at 11 a.m.
