TURLOCK — The Cal State Stanislaus softball team wrapped up the conference series against Sonoma State Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 loss and a 6-3 win.

The Warriors remain .500 in CCAA play at 10-10 and 13-15 overall. Sonoma State is now 18-9 overall and 14-6  in California Collegiate Athletic Association action.

In game one, Brittani Weatherford pitched her ninth complete game of the season, pitching almost flawlessly through five innings. Jordan Flora gave Weatherford some cushion in the bottom of the fourth with a solo homerun to right field for a 1-0 Warrior lead.

However, in the Sonoma sixth, Brittanie Verissimo singled with two outs, just ahead of a two-run homerun by Kayla Ledford to left field. That turned out to be the difference in the game.

Seawolves starter Samantha Lipperd then held the Warriors for the next to innings to secure the 2-1 win.  Lipperd finished with 12 strikeouts to add to her weekend totals. She fanned 14 in Friday's no-hitter.

In the series finale the Warriors took advantage of Sonoma's Julianne Martinez's control issues and Seawolf errors.  Sarah Locarnini led off the first with a walk and Missy Corral, trying to advance Locarnini with a sacrifice bunt, reached on a fielding error by the SSU third baseman.

Both runners advanced after Flora grounded out to shortstop. Kristan Burns then drove in Locarnini with a singled  through the left side. Kiley Mendez then reached on a fielders choice after Corral got in a rundown between third and home. Corral scored on the play after another error by the SSU third baseman.

Sonoma State answered back with one run in the second after Rochelle Vanyi tripled to right field and scored on a single up the middle by Skylynn Myers.

After singles by Brittany Rickles and Locarnini, Flora belted her second homerun of the day to make it 5-1 in favor of the Warriors.  The Warriors added another run in the fourth when Rickles scored on a single by Flora.

CSUS pitcher Burns only gave up two earned runs in five innings, the second was in the top of the third when Sonoma's Megan Konieczka crushed a ball over the fence in center field.

Weatherford wrapped up the final two innings in relief for the Warriors, holding on to the 6-3 win and earned her second save of the season.

Flora finished the day with three hits, two runs, and five RBI's.  In the nightcap, Locarnini and Rickles both went 2-for-3 and scored twice.

The Warriors will be on the road next weekend for at Cal State San Bernardino with 1 p.m. start on Friday and an 11 a.m. start on Saturday.
