TURLOCK — Brittani Weatherford finished the weekend with three wins and a save as she and her Warrior teammates completed the series sweep over Cal State East Bay with 6-2 and 9-4 wins on Saturday.

The Cal State Stanislaus offense continued to swing the bats and producing runs as the Warriors even-up their California Collegiate Athetlc Association record to 8-8. They are now 11-13 overall.

Weatherford, who had a win and a save on Friday, picked up both wins on Saturday. She started game one and pitched six shutout innings on three hits. With a 6-0 lead, she gave way to freshman reliever Alyssa Coelho to finish the game.

Weatherford, CSUS' sophomore ace, then earned another win in game two after taking over in the fifth inning for starter Kristan Burns.

The four-game sweep marks the second straight time that Cal State Stanislaus accomplished that against Cal State East Bay since the Pionners joined the CCAA. The Warriors took all four games last year in Hayward.

On Saturday, Weatherford got plenty of run-support in the opener as the Warriors scored three runs in the first three innings en route to the 6-2 win. Jordan Flora drove in two more runs in the third inning with a double. Then in the fifth, Kiley Mendez capped a three-run rally with a RBI double that scored Burns. Burns, too, drove in a score in that frame while the other run came in as a result of a wild pitch.

In the first game, Burns finished with two hits with a double and drove in two runs. Sarah Locarnini also had two hits and scored twice.

In the nightcap, Stanislaus took advantage of three walks with two key hits to go up 4-0 in the third inning. With the bases loaded, Burns doubled in two runs then Mendez drove in two more runs with a single.

However, Cal State East Bay tied the game with four runs in the top of fourth. Sarah Velasuez keyed that rally with a two-run double for the Pioneers.

After Burns gave up an one-out double in the fifth, she was relieved by Weatherford who finished the final 2 2/3 innings and gave up just two hits.

Stanislaus built its lead back up the 9-4 with runs in the fifth and sixth before CSUEB threatened in the seventh. The Pioneers worked the bases load with one out but a runner's interfance and a pop-up to short right field ended the game.

Mendez ended up 2-for-4 with four runs batted in in game two.

For the weekend, Weatherford pitched a total of 16 2/3 innings and struck out 13 batters with out allowing a run.
