TURLOCK – The Cal State Stanislaus softball team wrapped up their 2011 season on a high note as they swept San Francisco State, 6-0 and 6-5, in Saturday's California Collegiate Athletics Association doubleheader.
Brittani Weatherford dominated from the circle Saturday as she claimed two more wins on the season. She pitched a shutout in game one of the doubleheader, allowing only four hits and striking out three Gator batters. In the nightcap Weatherford came into run for the Warriors, but also closed out the eighth inning without giving up a hit.
Celebrating their senior day, the Warriors were determined offensively. Brittani Balanesi led the Warriors batting 3-for-5 with three runs, an RBI, a double, a triple, and a homerun on the day. Senior catcher
Missy Corral not only recorded her 100th start with the Warriors, but she left her mark at the plate batting 4-for-7 with two runs, three RBI's and four doubles to wrap up her career.
The Warriors took an early lead over the Gators in game one, scoring four runs in the first inning.
Sarah Locarnini led the rally with an infield single to the shortstop. Locarnini then stole second to put her in scoring position. Corral doubled to the left center gap, scoring Locarnini.
Jordan Flora then hit a single to the left field move Corral over to third.

Brittney Rickles then had back-to-back singles to the pitcher that scored two more runs which wrapped up the inning with a 4-0 lead.
The Warriors scored two more in the fifth. Starting it off was
Brittany Balanesi with a triple to the right center gap.
Kaitlin Goulart then belted a pinch-hit homer to left to give the Warriors a 6-0 lead that would eventually result in the final score.
Gator pitcher Kendra Wood made it difficult for the Warrirors at the plate in the later game of the day. San Francisco State scored two runs early off of Stanislaus pitcher
Kristan Burns. CSUS answered back with one run in the second after Balanesi hit a solo homerun to left field.
After San Francisco State scored their final three runs in the third, Cal State Stanislaus started to gain momentum. The Warriors scored another run in the third to bring a score of 5-2.
Alyssa Coelho pitched strong in relief for the Warriors, holding the strong Gator bats. The game had a shift in momentum when the Warriors scored three runs in the sixth to tie the score at 5-5. Balanesi started it off once again with a double to centerfield. Goulart pinch hit once again, singling up the middle to score Balanesi. With two down, Locarnini took a walk followed by another double by Corral which scored two runs.
The strong offense continued for Stanislaus in the seventh beginning with a walk by Burns. Weatherford was then brought in to run for Burns. After Weatherford stole second, Mendez laid down a two-strike sac bunt to move the runner to third base. With just one out, San Francisco State intentionally walked the next two batters. The Warriors were unable to do anything with the next two at-bats and entered extra innings after leaving the bases loaded.
After a strong outing by Weatherford, the Warriors finally got the win after two consecutive doubles by Corral and Flora.
In addition to Balanesi and Corral, Locarnini was huge contribution to the strong Warrior offense. She finished 5-for-7 on the day with three runs.
The Warriors finish with a final record of 21-30 overall and 14-22 in the CCAA. San Francisco wrap up their 2011 season with a record of 18-35 overall and 11-25 in conference play.
