Sarah Locarnini went 3-for-4 with a triple and scored three times to lead the Warriors to an 8-4 win over Chaminade in an early game on Sunday. Cal State Stanislaus ended up in the consolation bracket at the Tournament of Champions presented by Mizuno.
Later in the day, the Warriors fell to Cal State East Bay, 8-2, to end play for the weekend. Cal State Stanislaus went 4-3 over the three-day tournament.
In seven tournament games, Locarnini was 11-for-23 with three triples and scored 13 runs.
Jordan Flora batted .500 with 10 hits in 20 at bats with six doubles over the weekend.
In Sunday's game against Chaminade, the Warriors had rallied in the middle innings. Trailing 1-0, Stanislaus scored twice in the third.
Missy Corral drove in two runs with a single up the middle in the inning. CSUS added three runs in the fourth in a rally highlighted by Flora's two-run double to make it 5-4.
Cal State Stanislaus finally put the game away in the sixth, platting three runs on just two hits. Locarnini tripled to start a rally that was capped by
Brittney Rickles single that scored two runs.
The top of the order, 1-2-3, for the Warriors went 6-for-10, scored six times and drove in four runs.
Kristan Burns picked up the win by tossing four strong innings in relief. She gave up just one hits, struck out three and walked two. Starter
Alyssa Coelho allowed four unearned runs on two hits in three innings.
Burns, however, was tagged for nine hits in the second game. Against Cal State East Bay in the consolation bracket semifinals, Burns gave up four runs in 3 1/3 innings with two strikeouts.
The Warriors led 2-1 in the third inning in a rally again started by Locarnini. With one out and
Brieanna Stone on first with a single, Locarnini tripled to score Stone before coming home on a Corral sac fly.
That was it for Stanislaus, however, as the Pionners put up two big innings. CSUEB scored three runs in the third and four runs in the fifth for the win.
Emily Montanez went 3-for-4 with three runs batted in including a home run. Kassandra Winger also had three hits to lead East Bay.
