TURLOCK — In yet another dominating performance -- this time with four goals to show for it -- the Cal State Stanislaus women's soccer team completely overpowered Notre Dame de Namur, 4-0, Saturday night at Warrior Stadium.

Returning All-American Karenee Demery was part of three goals and Warrior veterans Marissa Dunaway, Bernie Bettencourt and Alexia Poon all scored to lead the Warriors as they improved to 1-0-1 on the young season.

For the second straight match, the Warriors were dominant on both sides of the ball. Saturday night, they out-shot the Argonauts, 37-5, with 15 shots on goal. This came after the lopsided match Thursday night when Stanislaus out-shot Central Washington, 30-5, in a scoreless draw.

"We played aggressive attacking soccer tonight and it really paid off. The goals we scored were fantastic," CSUS head coach Gabriel Bolton said.

Dunaway got the scoring early, finishing a couple of nice passes from Bettencourt and Demery in the 8th minute mark. Demery then scored her first goal this season -- 20th of her career -- in the 28th minute to give CSUS a 2-0 lead. Demery collected a rebound when Poon's shot hit the crossbar.

In the second half, the Warriors had an one-player advantage after NDNU's Andrea Huerta received a red card (for grabbing a Warrior jersey and slamming the opponent into the ground after the whistle) just before the end of the first half.

Less then nine minutes into the second half, Bettencourt found the back of the net after working with Demery and Dunaway on a triangle pass to make it 3-0.

The offensive out-pour continued with Poon capping off the scoring in the 84th minute. After receiving a long punt from second goalie Brianna Murawski, Keshia Lyons one-touched the ball to Poon for the score.

"I was very pleased with our back line and the subs that came off the bench," Bolton said. "To play at a high level for 90 minutes and play 25 plays says a lot about the quality of players we have in the program."

Stanislaus out-shot NDNU 19-4 in the first half and 18-1 in the second half. In 200 minutes of soccer over two matches, the Warriors have out-shot their opposition 67-10.

Millie Brown had two saves in the win for CSUS. She played the first 76-plus minutes of the match.

Notre Dame de Namur goalkeeper Kelsee Berryman collected nine saves before giving way to Carrie Turgeon for the final 18 minutes. NDNU also played without its leading scorer Sarah Biser in the second half due to an mid-game injury.

The Warriors, who are favorited to win the CCAA North, begin their conference season Friday when they host Humboldt State.
