TURLOCK — Vince Fuller missed last weekend's games due to an injury. Well, he showed up Saturday night as he led the Warriors to a thrilling 59-58 victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Fuller scored a team-best 18 points, including 11 in the first half, as Cal State Stanislaus earned a split this weekend and improved to 9-5 overall and 5-5 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Cal State Dominguez Hills' Wayne Andrews, who led all scorers with 25 points, had the last shot at the buzzer but missed. The Toros are now 7-5 overall and 6-4 in the CCAA.

The Warriors led from the start and control of the game for most of the night with a lead as large 11. However, Stanislaus had to hold off a Dominguez Hills rally.

The Warriors had periods of offensive draught over the last several games, but had a much better shooting night Saturay as they shot a pultry 44.4 percent in the opening half.

Stanislaus enjoyed a nine-point lead with 7:12 left in the first half after a Marcus Walters layup that made it 20-11.

Stanislaus would maintain the lead and took a 29-21 lead at intermission after a Fuller jumper in the final seconds of the opening half.

Fuller, whose totals is a new career high, was 4 of 7 in the first half while the rest of the team went 8-for-20. His offensive output was especially important since Reggie Jones finished with a season-low six points as he was dealing with foul trouble. Jones saw the court for just 12 minutes -- five in the second half.

The Toros cut the Stanislaus lead to one on a George McGrew layup at 1:40, but Walters made a layup for a 3-point CSUS lead. A pair of Andrews free throws and Myron Green layup later, however, CSUDH took a lead with 27 seconds left to play.

After a timeout, on the ensuing Warrior possession, Jones was triple-teammed under the basket and was slapped in the head but did not draw a foul. However, Ronnie Sawyer grabbed the offensive rebound and was fouled. Sawyer made both free throws to put CSUS back up 59-58 with nine seconds left.

Brett Sayad finished with nine points, all three-pointers, and Walters ended up with seven points and team-high eight rebounds.

The Warriors were out-rebounded 40-29 and gave up 17 offensive rebounds.

Andrews was 6 for 12 from the floor with 11 three throws and pulled seven boards for CSUDH. McGrew led the team with 11 rebounds to go with his nine points. Gree had 14 points.
