TURLOCK, Calif. — Stan State wraps up the 2025-26 regular season this week with a pair of pivotal road contests in the Bay Area, beginning Thursday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. at No. 2 Cal State East Bay before concluding Saturday, Feb. 28 at 3 p.m. at San Francisco State. With two games remaining and the CCAA Tournament field still to be finalized, the Warriors remain in contention for a postseason berth heading into the final weekend.
Stan State at a Glance
Stan State enters the week at 12–14 overall and 8–12 in CCAA play. The Warriors are averaging 71.8 points per game while allowing 71.1, shooting 45.0 percent from the field and 32.7 percent from three-point range. Stan State owns a +1.8 rebounding margin, averaging 35.7 boards per contest, and is averaging 13.0 assists per game with a 1.1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Individually, Malachi Johnson leads the Warriors at 12.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while shooting 50.6 percent from the floor. Donjae Lindsey adds 11.9 points per contest and shoots 39.0 percent from beyond the arc, while Lloyd French contributes 10.3 points. French also leads the team with 32 steals, while Mark Jones III paces the Warriors with 61 assists. Final Two Home Games Recap
Stan State dropped a pair of close contests in its final two home games, falling 74–69 to Cal State Dominguez Hills on Homecoming and 66–64 to Cal State Los Angeles on Senior Day, where Daniel Ameyaw, Jason Cibull, Javon Johnson, Tahjae Ordonio, and Jordan Smith were recognized in a pregame ceremony.
Against the Toros, the Warriors led for more than 35 minutes before late free throws proved the difference. Tahjae Ordonio scored 16 second-half points with four three-pointers, while Malik Johnson recorded his first career double-double with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and five blocked shots.
On Saturday, Stan State built a 40–33 halftime lead and held the advantage in the final minute before Cal State Los Angeles secured the win with 0.5 seconds remaining. Malachi Johnson led the Warriors with 12 points, Lloyd French added 11, and Daniel Ameyaw pulled down 10 rebounds to move into fourth place all-time in program history with 555 career boards.
CCAA Standings Update
With two games remaining, Stan State sits at 8–12 in CCAA play (12–14 overall), currently tied for eighth in the conference standings. UC Merced is also 8–12 but is ineligible for postseason competition this season. Cal State East Bay (20–0) has clinched the regular-season title and a CCAA Tournament berth, while Cal State Dominguez Hills (16–4) has also secured its spot in the conference tournament.
Cal State Monterey Bay, Cal State San Bernardino, and Cal Poly Humboldt are tied for third at 11–9, followed by Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State San Marcos at 10–10. Stan State sits two games behind the group at 10–10 for the final projected tournament positions. The Warriors swept Cal State Monterey Bay and Cal State San Marcos this season, split the season series with Cal Poly Humboldt and Cal Poly Pomona, and were swept by both Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State San Bernardino. The top six eligible teams advance to the CCAA Men's Basketball Championships, scheduled for March 5–8 at Cal Poly Pomona.
CCAA Statistical Snapshot
As a team, Stan State ranks third in the CCAA in scoring defense and field-goal percentage defense, fourth in rebounding margin, and fifth in scoring margin. The Warriors also rank among the conference leaders in three-point field-goal percentage defense, overall rebounding, offensive rebounding, defensive rebounding, assist-to-turnover ratio, and assists per game. Individually, Malachi Johnson ranks fifth in the CCAA in rebounding and field-goal percentage and seventh in blocked shots.
Double-Double Watch
Malachi Johnson has recorded five double-doubles this season, beginning with an 18-point, 10-rebound performance at Menlo on Nov. 19, 2025. He added an 11-point, 11-rebound effort against Cal State Monterey Bay on Jan. 2, 2026, followed by a 14-point, 13-rebound game at Cal State LA on Jan. 8. Johnson continued the stretch with 19 points and 10 rebounds against San Francisco State on Jan. 15 and closed the run with 15 points and 11 rebounds versus Cal State East Bay on Jan. 17.
Lloyd French recorded the first double-double of his career on Dec. 21, 2025 against Cal Poly Pomona, finishing with 11 points and 12 assists. Daniel Ameyaw owns nine career double-doubles, including a 14-point, 12-rebound performance against Fresno Pacific on Nov. 15, 2025, and ranks fourth in Stan State program history in career rebounds.
No. 2 Cal State East Bay Preview
Cal State East Bay enters Thursday's matchup ranked No. 2 in the nation and undefeated at 26–0 overall and 20–0 in CCAA play. The Pioneers are averaging 78.0 points per game while allowing just 63.7, boasting a +14.3 scoring margin. They shoot 46.2 percent from the field and 36.0 percent from three-point range, while holding opponents to 41.3 percent overall and 29.2 percent from beyond the arc. East Bay also owns a +5.5 rebounding margin and averages 15.3 assists and 10.0 steals per game.
Tyree Campbell leads the Pioneers at 14.0 points per game while shooting 50.8 percent from the field and 46.8 percent from three-point range. Ramsey Huff adds 11.0 points per contest, and Jaayden Bush contributes 10.9 points and a team-best 69 assists. Josh Ijeh anchors the interior with 41 blocked shots.
Last Meeting vs. Cal State East Bay
Malachi Johnson recorded his third straight double-double and fifth of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds, but Stan State fell 71–57 to No. 7 Cal State East Bay at Fitzpatrick Arena. Four Warriors scored in double figures as the team battled throughout.
Cal State East Bay shot nearly 60 percent in the first half to build a 42–30 halftime lead. Stan State outrebounded Cal State East Bay 38–35, with Daniel Ameyaw adding eight rebounds alongside Johnson's 11. Lloyd French scored 12 points, while Ameyaw and Jason Cibull each added 10.
All-Time Series vs. Cal State East Bay
Stan State leads the all-time series versus Cal State East Bay 24–15 since 2008, but Cal State East Bay has won four of the last five meetings. The Warriors' most recent victory in the series was a 79–73 win on Jan. 27, 2024 in Hayward.
San Francisco State Preview
San Francisco State enters the week at 3–24 overall and 2–18 in CCAA play and will host UC Merced on Thursday before welcoming Stan State on Saturday. The Gators are averaging 65.8 points per game while allowing 81.0 and are shooting 40.1 percent from the field and 28.9 percent from three-point range. Diego Martinez leads the team at 10.0 points per game, while Milandev Chatha adds 9.6 points per contest. Markees Williams paces the Gators with 88 assists, and Evan McKnight is shooting 69.2 percent from the field.
Last Meeting vs. San Francisco State
Stan State earned an 81–69 victory over San Francisco State at Fitzpatrick Arena. Malachi Johnson recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds. The Warriors totaled 21 assists against just 10 turnovers and outscored the Gators 43–32 in the second half. Lloyd French finished with a career-high 18 points and eight rebounds.
