Box Score TURLOCK — In an impressive showing of speed and greatness, Karenee Demery scored the golden goal two minutes into the overtime period to lead No. 8 Cal State Stanislaus to an exciting 4-3 win over Chico State.

Demery scored another hat-trick against the Wildcats as Cal State Stanislaus moved into first place in the CCAA North standings heading into Sunday's regular season finale showdown with Sonoma State (14-2-1, 10-2-1 CCAA).

The winning score was perhaps the most impressive score by Demery in her career. In front of her team's bench, she blocked a Chico pass, took possession and got herself in an one-on-one situation. Demery dribbled more than half the field to the far side and blasted from 14 yards out to the near post for the victory at 92:14.

The Warriors improved to 15-2 overall (11-2 in the CCAA) to equal a program-best with wins in a season. Chico State fell to 6-11 and 4-10 in the CCAA.

"I was very proud of the way we battle the entire match," head coach Gabriel Bolton said. "Give Chico a lot of credit. They came to play and they put forth a tremendous effort. Chico was very opportunistic and put away their chances."

For the two-time All-American Demery, it was her fourth hat-trick of her career and the third time she's scored three goals in a match this season. Demery also netted three goals against Chico State last November in the CCAA Championship game here at Warrior Stadium.

Demery now has 53 career goals with 24 game-winners and leads the CCAA with 18 scores this season.

It was Demery who opened up the scoring for Stanislaus in the third minute. She sent a shot in as the ball deflects off the hands of Chico goalkeeper Brianna Furner and defenders for the score.

Chico State answered with two goals in the 14th and 19th minutes to take a 2-1 lead at intermission.

However, coming out of the break, the Warriors tied it up just 37 seconds in when Karli Nestler blasted a free kick from 40 yards out through the hands of Furner.

"I've said all year long this team is extremely mentally tough. They believe in each other, they play for each other, and in the tough moments they work together through whatever adversity they are facing," added Bolton.

The high-energy scoring game continued when Bernie Bettencourt fed Demery a nice pass as she finished it off behind Furner to make it 3-2. Chico State answered right-back 10 minutes later on a Scotie Walker goal (her second of the night) and eventually sent the game into overtime.

In Sunday's regular season finale and senior day, the Warriors can claim the division title with at least a tie and the top seed in the conference tournament with a win over Sonoma State. Kickoff is at 11:30 a.m.
