San Francisco State GATORS (6-14, 5-9 CCAA)

Series Notes: The Warriors have a two-game winning streak (both at San Francisco) against the Gators. Stanislaus leads the long all-time series 47-36 and is 15-12 over SF State during CCAA play. The teams split season series in each of the last three years.

Saturday, Feb. 4, 7:30 p.m.
Cal Poly Pomona BRONCOS (13-5, 9-6 CCAA)

Series Notes: Cal Poly Pomona has won seven straight against Stanislaus and holds a 22-6 all-time advantage (21-6 in CCAA play). The last Cal State Stanislaus win was on Feb. 15, 2008.

The Broncos also tops the CCAA in FG percentage (.467) … The Broncos received votes in this week's NABC Top 25 … Cal Poly Pomona has won three straight and are 8-1 at home (5-3 away) … Mitchel Anderson averages 14.1 points, 5.3 rebounds per game.

Letting Two More Slip Away
The Warriors suffered two disappointing defeats last weekend at home with chances to win in the final seconds of both contests. Stanislaus lost to Humboldt State in double overtime after chances to win at the foul line at the end of regular and first overtime. Then, Saturday night, the Warriors again had opportunities to win but could not capitalize on a Sonoma State turnover and a miss free throw in the final seconds.

Career Game for Sam
Sam Marcus, who has made four consecutive starts, had quite a game last Friday against Humboldt State. Marcus recorded career highs with nine assists, four steals and five rebounds. He also scored seven points that night and added nine points the following evening. In four starts, Marcus is averaging 9.3 points, 4.8 assists and 2.3 steals per game. He has also made 65 percent of his shots (13-for-20) with two three-pointers.

Now We're Looking Up
Entering last weekend's play, the Warriors were one game back of first place in a seven-team log-jam. After the two losses, Stanislaus now finds itself in eighth place, looking up a seven teams. The Warriors are now three-game out of first and 1 1/2 games ahead of Cal State East Bay for the final tournament berth.

Overtime Thrillers
Cal State Stanislaus has played in three overtime games this season — all of them at home — and is 2-1 in those games. The Warriors' first extra period loss was last Friday in a thrilling double-overtime game against Humboldt State. Prior to that the Warriors had OT wins over Chico State (Dec. 7) and UC San Diego (Jan. 6).

Three-Game Streaks
The Warriors just couldn't seem to get that fourth in-a-row after they ended a three-game win-streak on Friday's loss. They have won three straight three times this season (6-1 in first seven games with a one-point loss at Cal Poly Pomona on Dec. 1 in the middle of two three-game win-streaks).

Sawyer Keeps Contributing
Ronnie Sawyer continues to fill in some scoring void this past weekend with two more double-digit scoring games (his third and fourth consecutive). He notched a double-double, his second, on Friday with 13 points and 11 rebounds then came off the bench to score 10 points on Saturday. In the last four games, he's averaged 13.3 points per game.

The Final Eight Games
To keep pace with the rest of the conference and qualify for the conference tournament for the second straight year, the Warriors will have to get some wins in the season's final eight games. Four of those games will have to come on the road. After hosting a pair of games this weekend, Stanislaus is on the road for four straight, before finishing the regular season in Turlock, Feb. 23-24.
