TURLOCK — The Cal State Stanislaus softball team ran into perhaps the hottest team in the country as No. 20 Cal State Dominguez Hills swept the Warriors on Friday.

The Toros, now winners of 17 straight games, won game one 11-3 and took the nightcap 12-2 in five innings to improve to 17-2 overall. Cal State Dominguez Hills, ranked No. 20 in the first NFCA poll, is also undefeated in 10 games during California Collegiate Athletic Association play.

Cal State Stanislaus fell to 5-16 overall and 0-6 in the CCAA. The last time the Toros lost a game was on Feb. 4 when the Warriors beat them 2-1 in eight innings on day one of the Mizuno Best of the West Invitational.

In Friday's doubleheader, CSUDH scattered 30 hits with seven doubles and two homers offensively. Then in the circle, the Toros rode the arms of Lauren Harper and Stephanie Jimenez for the sweep. Together, the pitching staff struck out 15 batters and gave 10 hits.

The Warriors were led by Lauren Liming, who went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer to left center field in the sixth to make it 8-3 at the time. It was Liming's second home run of the season. Jordan Flora and Kiley Mendez also each had two hits.

In game two, Flora belted her third home run of the season in the bottom of the first to give the Warriors an early 2-0 lead.

However, CSUDH scored a run in the second and exploded for six runs in the third en route to the mercy-rule decision.

Flora had two of the team's four hits in the nightcap to finish the day 4-for-6.

The teams will finish up the four-game series on Saturday with a twinbill starting at 11 a.m.
