TURLOCK — Unlike Friday's doubleheader, the Cal State Stanislaus offense stalled on Saturday and could not take advantage of its opportunities as the Warriors were defeated by Cal State San Bernardino twice.

With stronger pitching performances and a monstrous day by Britney Butler, Cal State San Bernardino swept the Warriors, 6-0 and 6-2, to earn the series split. The Coyotes improved to 10-15 overall and 6-10 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association while Stanislaus dropped to 11-22 and 4-10 in CCAA play.

Butler, the CSUSB shortstop, hurt the Warriors both offensively and defensively in the twinbill. She went a combined 6-for-8 with eight RBIs, three doubles and a home run to carry the Coyotes. Butler was also part of four double-plays turned in the first game — including two she handled by herself at second base before tossing it to first.

Cal State Stanislaus had just two hits in the first game off Coyote starter Abreanna Landeros as she pitched a two-hit shutout. Similar to Friday, Landeros walked five and hit one batters with just one strikeout.

The Warriors tagged Landeros hard throughout the game but the hits were either line shots at a defender or a grounder to Butler. Butler recorded six putouts and seven assists in game one alone. Sarah Locarnini tripled in the first inning but was gunned down at the plate on a delay double-steal play.

Cal State San Bernardino scattered 10 hits with Butler going 4-for-4 with two doubles and a three-run home run in the seventh.

In the second game, the Warriors had just five hits versus CSUSB's 10 hits. Butler again led her team going 2-for-4 with four RBIs including a three-run double. Alex Mitchell had three hits for the Coyotes.

The Warriors took a 2-1 lead in the third after an infield hit by Brittani Weatherford and a Locarnini walk to set-up the rally. The Warriors hit two hard shots to center but where both caught until Kristan Burns, who again, hit it to center but this time it fell in front of Jamie Leffingwell for a single. Leffingwell let it get by her to allow two runs to score.

But that was all of the Stanislaus scoring for the day.

In the fifth, San Bernardino scored four times on three hits including a bases loaded double off the left field fence by Butler to put the game away.

CSUSB pitcher Carly Land walked five more Warriors but Stanislaus left a total of eight runners on base in game two.
