BURNABY, B.C. — Two-time All-American Karenee Demery scored all three goals as the Cal State Stanislaus women's soccer team shutout Simon Fraser, 3-0, Sunday afternoon at Terry Fox Field.

Demery scored twice in the first half, including a penalty kick goal, and notched a third in the second half for her second career hat trick. Demery scored three times on November 6, 2011, in the CCAA Championship match at Warrior Stadium. The junior forward now has 39 career goals and 95 points.

Cal State Stanislaus completes the preseason trip to the Pacific Northwest with a 2-0 record on two 3-0 matches and two shutouts.

"We came out with tremendous energy and went on the attack very early. I was proud of the effort," said head coach Gabriel Bolton.

The victory is the Warriors' first international win as Simon Fraser was competing in its first ever collegiate contest against a Divison II team as an NCAA program. Simon Fraser, located near Vancouver, became the first university outside of the U.S. to join the NCAA in August.

"This was a great experience for our student-athletes. Traveling to another country and all the experiences that accompany such a trip provide an invaluable education for our student-athletes," Bolton said.

In the 24th minute, Demery picked up a loose ball after a scramble in the box to put it in the net for a 1-0 Stanislaus lead. She made it 2-0 when she converted on a penalty kick in the 32nd minute after being pulled down by a Clan defender.

The third goal came when SFU turned the ball over near midfield with the Warriors quickly countering. Demery found the loose ball, dribbled between her defenders and juked SPU goalkeeper Amanda Gilliland for the score at 61:29. Demery almost made it 4-0 minutes later but her shot hit the cross bar.

"Karenee had a very good game and was extremely aggressive with her runs, defensive pressure, and dribbling," added Bolton.

The Cal State Stanislaus offense continued to put the pressure on while its midfield and backline kept Simon Fraser from penetrating in the attacking zone.

The Warriors out-shot Simon Fraser, 22-3, with 12 on goal. Stanislaus goalkeeper Millie Brown was credited with three saves.

"To go on the road and limit a team to only three shots is impressive," Bolton said. "Our entire team is really committed defensively."

California Collegiate Athletic Association play begins next weekend when Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State L.A. visits Warrior Stadium. Friday night's opener against CSUDH is at 7 p.m., after the men's match at 4:30 p.m.
