Box Score LOS ANGELES — The nation's scoring leader continues to put the ball in the back of the net, but a late goal by Cal State L.A. ultimately led to a 1-1 draw Sunday afternoon at the Jesse Owens Track.

Karenee Demery gave the 7th ranked Cal State Stanislaus Warriors a 1-0 lead early in the second half, but the Golden Eagles scored with 41 seconds left in regulation to force overtimes.

The teams battled to the 1-1 draw as the Warriors remain unbeaten at 10-0-2 overall and 8-0-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Cal State Stanislaus will remain in first place in the CCAA North with 26 points. Sonoma State (17 points) plays SF State at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

"LA is always a tough place to play because the field is so small and they are a good team," CSUS head coach Gabriel Bolton said. "We battled hard through some adversity. I'm proud of the heart and effort we put into the match."

Stanislaus needed just 1:23 into the second half to draw first blood on Sunday. Maryssa McDuffy sent a ball long to Katelyn Nebesnick who found Demery on a thru ball and slotted in to the left-corner.

Demery, now with 15 goals on the season, notched her third in two days and seven scores in four matches. She had entered the weekend No. 1 in NCAA Division II in total points. Demery now has 37 points. Demery was also No. 3 in points per game (3.00) and sixth in goals per game (1.20) before the weekend.

However, instead of picking up three points in the standings, the Warriors allowed a Cal State L.A. (5-4-3, 3-4-3 CCAA) goal with 89:19 on the clock. Amailia Arvidsson scored on a free kick just outside of hte box for the equalizer.

The Warriors were slightly out-shot 20-19 with goalkeeper Chelsea Lewandowski picking up five saves. Stanislaus, however, was called on 19 fouls against CSULA's nine and was issued two yellow cards to the Golden Eagles none.

Cal State Stanislaus will remain on the road next weekend with matches at Cal State Monterey Bay and San Francisco State.
