2/15/2013 6:06:00 PM

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SEASIDE — After allowing a late Otter rally in game one, the Warriors scored in bunches in the second game to pick up a split in the conference opening doubleheader on Friday.

The Warriors dropped game one 8-7 when 17th ranked Cal State Monterey Bay scoring five times in the final two innings. Stanislaus then went deep to cap-off a six-run sixth for an 11-2 nightcap win.

Cal State Stanislaus is now 6-4 overall and 1-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. CSUMB is 6-5, 1-1.

Four walks, a double, a single and a big grand slam homer added up to six Warrior runs in the sixth inning of game two to turn a tight 3-1 game into a 9-1 commanding lead.

Kristan Burns supplied the big blow in the inning with the bases loaded bomb that followed two free passes that also plated runs. The slam came with two outs in the inning.

Cierrah Mullins went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in in the nightcap and Sarah Locarnini, who walked three times and reach on an error, scored four times.

Natalie Rendon was the beneficiary of the offensive explosion. Rendon earned the win after giving up just one run on three hits in five innings even though she walked seven in the game.

CSUMB left the bases loaded four times in the game.

In the first game, the Warriors let a 4-3 lead slip away in the final two innings. The Otters scored three times to take a 6-4 lead, but Stanislaus answered right back off the bat of Mullins. With two outs, Weatherford and Locarnini drew walks ahead of a Mullins home run to make it 7-6 Stanislaus.

However, Monterey Bay got two unearned runs in seventh to win in walkoff fashion.

The teams will finish the four-game set on Saturday with another doubleheader, starting at noon.
