Box Score 2 TURLOCK — A four-run rally by the Warriors in game one was the highlight of the day as Cal State Stanislaus split a conference doubleheader against San Francisco State Friday afternoon.
Stanislaus scored four times in the bottom of the seventh to win game one, 6-5, before SF State walked its way to a 4-1 win for the split.
Trailing 5-2 going into their final at bats, the Warriors (8-10, 3-7 CCAA) used the entire batting order to rally for the opening win.
Brittani Weatherford set the table by drawing a walk to start the inning, ahead of a
Sarah Locarnini single up the middle.
Gator pitcher Marisa Ibarra was able to get two quick outs before
Lauren Liming came to the plate. Liming lined a shot up the middle to score two runs to make it 5-4. Ibarra then hit two consecutive Warriors to load the bases.
Brianna Nicholson, batting eighth in the order, singled to center to score Liming to tie the game. Finally,
Brittney Rickles' hit dropped just in front of a reaching SFSU second baseman, who trapped the soft liner, to score pinch-runner
Natalie Rendon for the Stanislaus win.
Locarnini finished with a 3-for-3 game, Liming and Rickles drove in two runs to lead the Warriors in game one.
Kiley Mendez picked up the win in relief after throwing the final 1 2/3 innings.
In the nightcap, SF State drew 10 walks in the first three innings to score four runs for a 4-1 lead — and that was all of the scoring. All four of San Francisco State (7-8, 3-7 CCAA) runs were scored via bases loaded walks.
Weatherford led the Warriors witha 1-for-2, two stolen base game. She also drove in the only Stanislaus run, on a single to left with the bases loaded.
The two teams met-up again on Saturday with another pair of games at Noon.
