Amy Droege had four hits and
Cierrah Mullins homered again but Cal State Stanislaus lost both ends of a CCAA doubleheader at Humboldt State on Friday.
Mullins belted a three-run shot in the top of the seventh of game one but the Warriors' rally fell short in the 6-4 loss. In the nightcap, Humboldt State shutout Stanislaus, 7-0, for the twinbill sweep.
The Warriors, now 11-15 overall and 6-12 in CCAA play, was led by Droege on offense as she collected two hits in each game on the day. After going 2-for-3 with a RBI in the first game as the No. 7 batter in the order, she moved up to the clean-up spot and promptely went 2-for-4 in the nightcap.
After Humboldt State (16-9, 10-4 CCAA) broke a 1-1 tie with a five-run fifth that included a grand slam, the Warriors rallied in the seventh. Singles by
Kiley Mendez and
Sarah Locarnini set-up Mullins' two-out, three-run homer to left to make it 6-4.
Following a walk, HSU got
Lauren Liming to ground out on a fielder's choice to end the game.
Mullins now leads the Warriors with five home runs and 21 runs batted in on the season.
With a four-hit day, Droege saw her batting average jump from .194 to .232.
In game two, Stanislaus was not able to capitalize on four Lumberjack errors and left 11 runners on base. HSU hit three home runs in the nightcap to finish the day with six homers.
