Cierrah Mullins went 2-for-4 with two doubles in the nightcap, but the Cal State Stanislaus softball team dropped a pair of games at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday.
The Warriors stayed closed in game one against the Toros bbefore being shutout 3-0. Then the Toros had to use extra innings to win the second game, 5-4, in nine innings for the sweep.
Cal State Dominguez Hills improved to 32-19 overall and 19-15 in the CCAA after the doubleheader. Stanislaus snapped a three-game winning streak and fell to 16-34, 9-25 in the CCAA.
The teams will finish the regular season on Saturday with the doubleheader starting at 11 a.m.
Mullins had two doubles in the nightcap, helping the Warriors score two runs in the third. Her two-run double scored
Brittani Weatherford and
Sarah Locarnini. Mullins later scored on a run scoring single by
Kristan Burns to take a 3-0 lead.
Stanislaus made it 4-0 in the fifth with another Mullins double that plated Weatherford in the fifth. Weatherford went 2-for-4 in the game, so did
Nicole Jenkins.
In the opener, Weatherford was out-pitched by Stephanie Jimenez, CCAA pitcher of the week for the thid time. Jimenez gave up just four hits and struck out seven Warriors.
