SAN BERNARDINO — No. 19 ranked Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes proved to be too much, especially in the second half, for the Cal State Stanislaus men to handle as the Warriors dropped a 87-72 decision at Coussoulis Arena.
Marcus Bell had 17 points and six rebounds while
Chris Read and
Tyler Barber each chipped in 11 but the Warriors fell to 7-3 overall and 3-3 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. The Warriors have lost three of their last four conference games on the road.
Lacy Haddock led the Coyotes, ranked No. 19 in the latest national coaches poll, with 28 points on 11 of 13 shooting with four three-pointers. Four other CSUSB players also scored in double figures, including Jordan Burris, who had 14 points to go with 10 rebounds.

The Coyotes took over the game in the second half, after a tight first half, by using a 20-3 run during a seven-minute span to turn a two-point game (52-50 at 15:53) into a 19-point gap (72-53, 8:53). CSUSB expanded that lead to 22-points minutes later on a trey by Juan Martinez at 4:29 to make it 84-62.
The Warriors mounted a mini-comeback, hitting eight straight points with four points each from
Shey Mataele and
Chris Read to make it 84-70 at 2:20, but the Warriors only scored one more basket the rest of the time (a
Taylor Bell layup with 57 seconds left).
Cal State Stanislaus will host the next four CCAA games at home, at Fitzpatrick Arena, where the Warriors are 4-0 this season. The homestand begins on Friday against Cal State L.A. at 7:30 p.m.
