Women's Soccer looks to snap skid against top team

The Warriors will try to end a three-match losing streak on Friday but will have to jump that hurdle against the best team in the CCAA and the West in Cal State L.A. Stanislaus also hosts Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sunday.

Home Match Promotions: Friday night is College Sunglasses Giveaway and the Warrior Cheer Team will perform at halftime ... Sunday fans will receive cyclone fans. While the men will celebrate their senior game on Sunday, the women's team will hold its senior game next Thursday night at 7 p.m.

Series Notes: The Warriors went 2-0-2 in the last four matches against Cal State L.A. since the double OT loss to the Golden Eagles at the 2010 CCAA Championships at Warrior Stadium. Cal State Stanislaus leads the head-to-head series 12-7-3 and is 7-4-0 at home against L.A. ... Cal State Dominguez Hills is 18-3 against the Warriors all-time but Stanislaus won three of the last four meetings. 2010 was the first time the Warriors beat the Toros at home after a 10-match losing streak.

Last Time Against the Opponents: Stanislaus and Cal State L.A. tied 1-1 in Los Angeles on Oct. 13, 2013. Karenee Demery scored the goal for the Warriors 1:23 into the second half but Amalia Arvidsson tied the contest with 41 seconds left to play in regulation ... The Warriors beat-up on the Toros, 4-0, last Oct. 11, 2013 in Carson. The match was played inside the Stub Hub Center. Karenee Demery scored twice in the first 4:16 of the match and Sabrina Williamson scored early in the second half to lead the Warriors. CSUDH also gave Stanislaus an "own goal."

In the Rankings: The Warriors are out of the Top 25 for the first time in 22 regular season weeks, dating back to the 2012 season. They did receive five votes this week. Cal State Stanislaus is now No. 5 in the West Region in the NCAA poll, which will determine the list of teams advancing to the NCAA tournament ... Cal State L.A. jumped up from No. 16 to No. 7 and Sonoma State dropped from No. 8 to No. 15 ... Minnesota State-Mankato is No. 1 at 14-0-0

Third Straight 1-0 Loss: The Warriors lost three straight matches for the first time since the middle of the 2009 season when they lost four straight en route to a 10-9-1 season. They have now lost four matches this season by the score of 1-0.

Home Streak Snapped: Cal State Stanislaus saw its 17-match regular season home winning streak come to an end in the 1-0 loss last Sunday versus Chico State. The Warriors have an impress record of 45-13-3 at home (including postseason games) since Warrior Stadium opened in 2009.

Playof Picture: With three regular season home matches to go, the Warriors are in sixth place with 12 points, three points behind Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona (15) and four behind Chico State (16) ... Cal State L.A. is the only team left on the Stanislaus schedule ahead of the Warriors in the standings ... The top six teams qualifies for the CCAA Championships, which begins on Nov. 2 with the play-in games on campus sites.

Scoring Draught: The Stanislaus women were held scoreless in three straight matches for the first time since 2000 ... The Warriors have now been held without a goal for more than 288 minutes. This was extra surprising since the Warriors had back-to-back four-goal matches prior to the current skid and still leads the conference in scoring with 35 goals ... Despite not scoring lately, Jade Poon remains the CCAA leader with 11 goals and 25 points.

About Cal State L.A. (13-1-1, 8-0-0 CCAA): The Golden Eagles are the hottest team in the conference with eight straight wins. They tied UC San Diego in a non-conference match on Sept. 22 ... Yi Du is the top goalkeeper in the conference as she leads in three categories. She's No. 1 in goals against average (0.39), goals against (6) and save percentage (.898) ... Amalia Arvidsson and Joanna Espinoza each has seven goals.

About Cal State Dominguez Hills (2-12-1, 2-6-0 CCAA): The Toros split at home last weekend including a win over Humboldt State, 1-0. They only lost to Sonoma State, 1-0 ... CSUDH ranks last in the CCAA in a number of offensive categories, including goals, shots, shots percentage, shots on goal, assists and corner kicks ... Johana Rosas has two of the team's seven goals this season.
