Box Score CARSON — The Warriors men's basketball team shot nearly 60 percent in the first half as they beat Cal State Dominguez Hills, 76-64, Friday night on the road.
The road win, just Stanislaus' fourth out of nine games this season, lifted the Warriors as they improved to 14-7 overall and 10-7 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, which is good for a tie for fourth place.
Marcus Bell scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for yet another double-double — his 12th this season and third straight to help the Warriors end a two-game skid.
Chris Read added 17 points and Shey Matale scored 13.
Sam Marcus was the fourth man in double figures in scoring with 11 points.
Stanislaus jumped out to a 14-point, 22-8, lead eight minutes into the game and never looked back. The Warriors used another 9-0 run during a four-minute stretch to make it 36-17 at 4:39 to go on a Read jumper.
The Warriors led 40-28 at halftime only due to a 11-4 Toros run to close out the half.
Stanislaus led by as many as 21 points at 5:58 when
Clinton Tremelling made a three-pointer to make it 58-37.
CSUDH (7-17, 4-13 CCAA) got as close as nine points with 2:01 left to go but the Warriors held off the Toros by making 10 of 12 free throws in the final 100 seconds of the game.
Cal State L.A.'s Eagles Nest is the Warriors' destination Saturday night when they take on the Golden Eagles. Cal State L.A. (12-9, 9-8) has lost three straight, including a 63-61 loss to Chico State Friday.
