2/21/2014 5:29:00 PM

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CHICO — The top four batters in the Chico State lineup caused Warriors all sorts of problems on Friday as the Cal State Stanislaus softball team dropped both ends of the CCAA doubleheader in Chico.

Chico State won game one 7-2 and the nightcap 4-1 to hand the Warriors two losses on their first roadtrip of the season. Chico State improved to 5-6 overall and 3-3 in the CCAA while Stanislaus fell to 5-8, 2-4 before Saturday's doublehader.

The first four batters in the Wildcat lineup went a combined 9-for-23 with four doubles and a homer, drove in seven runs and scored six times in the doubleheader.

The Warriors were able to get to Chico ace Alex Molina, who gave up five hits but walked six in the complete game game one. The Warriors, however, weren't able to fully capitalize on all of those baserunners as they stranded nine.

Chico State scored five runs in the first two innings to jump ahead. Courtney Brown went 2-for-3 with a double and sixth inning home run to lead the team.

Natalie Winters went 2-for-4 with a double and Morgan Balestreri also had two hits to lead Stanislaus in the opener.

In the nightcap, Jessica Varady singled to right in the fifth and later came around via a Cassidy Duek single and a double-steal and eventually scored on a wild pitch. That run accounted for the Warriors' only run in game two.

Cierrah Mullins went 2-for-3 and Amy Droege doubled in the second game to lead Stanislaus.
