Box Score 2 ROHNERT PARK — The Cal State Stanislaus softball team took yet another tough, one-run, loss in extra innings to start the day before dropping both ends of the doubleheader at Sonoma State.
The Warriors weren't unable to hold a 1-0 lead in the seventh of game one before losing the opener, 2-1, in nine innings. In the nightcap, Stanislaus was held to three hits in a 7-2 loss.
Sonoma State (21-11, 12-10 CCAA) scored in the bottom of the seventh on a sacrifice fly to force extra innings. Then Megan Konieczka's double to left center scored Ashley Long for the Seawolves' walk-off win.
Brittney Rickles tripled,
Melissa Robles and
Amy Droege both doubled while
Brianna Nicholson had the other hit as the Warriors were held to four hits by SSU starter Amanda Llerena (12-7).
The offense didn't do much better in game two with just three singles.
Trailing 7-0, Stanislaus scored twice in the sixth inning. Rickles scored on a
Morgan Balestreri grounder to second and Robles's deep fly to center scored
Jessica Varady.
Varady got the loss in the nightcap and
Natalie Rendon was the losing pitcher in game on in relief of
Karina Callazo.
The teams will play two more times on Saturday on the campus of Sonoma State.
