Box Score 2 LA JOLLA — The No. 19 ranked UC San Diego Tritons held the Stanislaus offense to just one run in each game on Saturday as the host Tritons won two more games of the four-game set to complete the CCAA series sweep.
The Warriors lost game one 9-1 in six innings and game two 5-1 to fall to 10-27 overall and 6-22 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. The young team has now lost 12 straight and 14 of its last 15 games with eight of those games against teams ranked in the Top 20 nationally.
Stanislaus managed 13 hits in the four-game set with seven of those came on Saturday. In game one, UCSD took a 6-0 lead after two innings but the Warriors got on the scoreboard to avoid the shutout. The Tritons had 41 hits.

In the finale, the Warriors again avoided the shutout by plating a run in the top of the seventh. An one-out walk by
Jessica Varady set up the scoring as she was followed by consecutive singles by pinch hitters
Brianna Nicholson and
Danielle Kelm. Duke drove in pinch-runner
Angela Mendoza with a bases loaded grounder to short.
UC San Diego (22-6, 17-3 CCAA) was led by Callie Grant who went 3-for-4 in each game on Saturday.
Cal State Stanislaus will have a few chances to regroup at home this coming week. The Warriors host a pair of non-conference games on Wednesday against Hawaii Pacific before hosting the 24-team Tournament of Champions next weekend.
