In their final home match before the start of the California Collegiate Athletic Association season, the No. 3 ranked Warriors will host the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs Thursday night at Warrior Stadium. On Sunday, the Warriors trek to conference rival Chico State for a match that will not count in the standings but will certainly be an important early-season match among the regional powers.

Series Notes: The Division III UC Santa Cruz team leads this head to head series, 2-1-1, but this is the teams' first meeting sicne 2001, when the Warriors won 2-0 during head coach
Gabriel Bolton's first year … Against Chico State, the Warriors trail 14-9-6 all-time but the Warriors have have dominated the Wildcats recently going 6-1-2 in the last nine meetings since 2010, including that memorable 4-0 win to win the 2010 CCAA Championship at Warrior Stadium.
Best Ranking in History: The Warriors continue to make history as their quick start has put them at No. 3 in the latest NSCAA national poll. Stanislaus, which is also ranked No. 1 in the West, jumped up five spots to No. 3, surpassing the program's previous best of No. 5 (at end of 2013 season). The Warriors have now been ranked in the top three in the West for 17 consecutive regular season weeks.
Poon Top CCAA Player Again: For the second straight week,
Jade Poon has been named the CCAA player of the week. The freshman scored five goals, including two game-winners, last week. She had a hat-trick in Monday's 6-1 win over Central Washington and scored both goals against Simon Fraser on Thursday.
Many Scoring Weapons: Poon, of course, isn't the only Warrior scoring.
Kirsten Coleman has netted five goals — four came from last week's three matches — and
Mikayla Clifford, who scored twice on Saturday against AAU, now has four. The trio — Poon, Coleman and Clifford — have accounted for 16 of the team's 17 goals. Poon is the only regular starter in the group with Coleman making her first start on Saturday.
Unbeaten Streak Rolls On: Since the start of the 2013 season, the Warriors have now gone 21-0-2 during regular season play and have won 16 consecutive home matches.
Road Warriors To Face Test: The Warriors have proven to be equally prolific on the road. Their two road wins this season improved their record to 20-0-4 in the last 24 matches since the middle of the 2011 season. Stanislaus will put that record to the test again on Sunday in Chico. Their only away loss since the start of the 2011 season was Sept. 23, 2011, at Cal State East Bay.
About the Banana Slugs: UC Santa Cruz lost at Cal State Monterey Bay, 2-0, Tuesday afternoon after the match was rescheduled. The match was supposed to take place in Santa Cruz last week … UCSC is 4-4-1 with wins over Whitman, Chapman, Whittier and Claremont-Mudd-Scripts … Sara Sadler has eight goals and two assists to lead the Slugs.
About the Wildcats: Chico State (2-1-1) is ranked No. 9 in the West in this week's NSCAA poll. The Wildcats face Dominican in San Rafael on Friday before hosting the Warriors on Sunday … Chico State is coming off two straight wins, including an impressive 1-0 win over Seattle Pacific (ranked No. 24 in the nation at the time), and a 3-1 win over Saint Martin's … Nicole Roberts has two of the team's five goals this season.
