Box Score TURLOCK — Jade Poon may have missed a start in today's Noon-time home opener, but once she got into the match she made sure her name was said a few times.

In just 36 minutes of game time, Poon scored a hat-trick and Kirsten Coleman added two goals as Cal State Stanislaus beat-up on Central Washington, 6-1, in a rare Monday mid-day match at Warrior Stadium. Katelyn Nebesnick scored the other goal for the Warriors, now 3-0-0.

Poon wasn't in the starting lineup because she was attending her English class when the match kicked-off. The freshman entered the match 24 minutes in and that's when the scoring started for the 11th ranked Stanislaus side.

"I'm very pleased with that performance as a team. To play one of the top teams in the West Region the third game of the weekend and go at them like that says a lot about our team," head coach Gabriel Bolton said.

After allowing a mistake to the Wildcats (0-2-0) in the seventh minute, the Warriors scored six unanswered goals to blast the GNAC semifinalist from 2013. CWU was a NCAA West Region tournament team last season.

Kirsten Coleman scored her first goal at 25:04 from a great long pass from Karli Nestler. Coleman added a score late, the team's sixth on the day, at 71:10. In between, Poon scored three times first with a penalty kick in the 39th minute to make it 2-1 at the break.

Returning All-American Nebesnick got into the action as well with a score about eight minutes into the second half to make it 3-1. Less than a minute later, Poon netted her second goal on the day, this time a dribble in the box with a strong shot after collecting a ball from Tina Benson. The freshman forward would cap off her hat-trick day in the 61st minute as she beat two defenders to make it 5-1. Nicole Bare was assisted on that score. Nestler ended up with two assist in the match.

Poon now has scored five goals in three matches — out-pacing four-time All-American Karenee Demery who had four scores in her first three matches back in 2010.

"I was a little nervous when I got in and I knew I need to score some goals for us," Poon said about her delayed Stanislaus home debut.

"I think what we saw today is that Jade can score a lot of different ways, added Bolton. "Even as a freshman she has the confidence to step up and take a big penalty kick.  She can beat you with her incredible pace.  And if you drop off of her she will beat you with a rocket from distance."

Central Washington had taken an early 1-0 lead at 6:20 when Mackenzie Nolte tapped in a loose ball away from Stanislaus goalie Chelsea Lewandowski. The Wildcats also out-shot the Warriors 5-1 in the early goings of the match.

"We knew they would come out and pressure us. Once we settled down and adjusted we handled the pressure very well," Bolton said.

The final numbers show the Warriors regain control and dominated the rest of the way, ending up with a 19-7 shot-advantage (11-2 in the second half). Central Washington keeper Kayla Lipston picked up seven saves despite allowing six goals — one of them a Poon penalty kick score at 38:07 when Poon was kicked by a Wildcat just in front of Lipston.

Cal State Stanislaus will host the Warrior Challenge this week with Humboldt State, Academy of Art and Simon Fraser participating in the four-team tournament. The first match is at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday between AAU and Humboldt State. The Warriors host Simon Fraser Thurday night at 7 p.m.
