Stanislaus defeated No. 2 Sonoma State, 4-1, in Rohnert Park in 2012; tied #15 Sonoma State and beat No. 20 SSU, 1-0, in 2013; and took-down the No. 14 Seawolves in overtime, 4-3, in Turlock last season. SSU still holds a 19-8-4 all-time advantage over Stan State … Stanislaus has dominated Humboldt State, with a 10-match winning streak dating back to 2009 (the loss was Sept. 13, 2009, 1-0 in Arcata). During this stretch, Stanislaus won at Arcata four times with a combined score of 13-2 (they out-scored HSU 14-1 in the six home games). More Shutouts: During its bye week from conference play, the Warriors faced Division III opponent UC Santa Cruz on Saturday and came out with a stellar 6-0 shutout of the Banana Slugs. The shutout was the team's sixth this season.
Offense On Track: The six-goal result from Saturday meant the Warriors have scored 10 goals in the last three matches — all of them at home at Warrior Stadium, where the team is 5-1-2 this season. In fact, the Warriors have scored 19 of their 31 goals at home, including three times with four goals or more.Quartet Scoring Attack: With
Kirsten Coleman and
Mikayla Clifford each scoring twice on Saturday, Stanislaus State now boasts four players with five or more goals this season. Coleman,
Jordan Moineau and
Jade Poon each netted six goals and
Gabby Squarcia has scored five. The quartet accounts for 23 of the team's 31 goals.
Stan State Stars: There are several Warriors among the conference leaders in scoring as Warriors occupy two of the top five spots in the leaderboard in goals, assists and points.
Jordan Moineau is tied for fourth with six goals, tied for second with five assists and is tied for third with 17 points.
Jade Poon and
Kirsten Coleman, too, have six goals to tie with Moineau in fourth while Poon's 16 total points is also good for fifth. With five assists,
Dani Rodrigues is tied for second with Moineau.
Prolific Offense vs. Tough D: Friday's contest at Sonoma State will be a match-up of the best offense against the top defense. The Warriors lead the CCAA with 31 goals and 2.2 goals a game while Sonoma State has only allowed four goals all season with 10 shutouts.
Lewandowski Moves Up List: Goalkeeper
Chelsea Lewandowski now has 24.5 shutouts in her career, which is just a shared-shutout away from tying Millie Brown for second on the career top 10 list. Breanna Vaughan holds the school record with 27.5 shutouts.
About the Opponents: Sonoma State (10-1-2, 7-0-1 CCAA) has won eight straight with six consecutive shutouts. During the eight-game winning streak, the Seawolves have outscored teams 20-2. Goalie Ashley Luis has a 0.29 goals against average. She also leads the CCAA with a .895 saves percentage. SSU's top scorer is Kristal Luna with four goals and an assist … Humboldt State (7-5-2, 3-3-2 CCAA) has also been playing good defense. The Lumberjacks have only allowed two goals in their last five matches where they went 2-1-2. Caitlin Plese is among the top goalkeepers in the league with a .878 saves percentage (2nd best in CCAA) and a 0.94 GAA (3rd). Bridget Daley leads HSU with five goals.
