Stan State women play L.A. again to open CCAA tourney

The Stanislaus women's team faces Cal State L.A. for the second time in six days as they are matched-up in the first round of the CCAA Women's Soccer Championships Tuesday night in L.A.

Series Notes: This will be Stanislaus and Cal State L.A.'s third meeting in the CCAA tournament with each team winning once. In 2010, the Warriors lost at Cal State L.A. in two overtimes and in 2013 the Warriors defeated the Golden Eagles, 3-2, in overtime en route to their second conference title.

Back in the CCAA Tournament: The Warriors are in the CCAA Women's Soccer Championship tournament for the sixth time since the inception of the event. The Warriors have qualified for the conference postseason event five times since 2010. Stanislaus State missed the CCAA tournament in 2014 at Warrior Stadium.

Nice to See You Again: Stanislaus State and Cal State L.A.  just met on Thursday in Turlock during the final weekend of regular season play. Despite out-playing the Golden Eagles, the Warriors lost 1-0. The Warriors are now 2-1-1 in the last four matches against Cal State L.A. played at Warrior Stadium.

Lewandowski Closes In: With another shutout under her belt, Chelsea Lewandowski has now amassed 26 1/2 shutouts in her career (she played three full seasons), which is now just one shy of tying Breanna Vaughan's record of 27.5 (Vaughan played four full seasons). Lewandowski lowered her career GAA to 0.67 and bettered her save percentage to .802, both top career marks in the Warriors' top 10 list. 

Leading Scorers: Team goal scorer leaders Jordan Moineau and Kirsten Coleman each picked up their seventh goal in Saturday's win over Cal State Dominguez Hills. Moineau is fifth in the CCAA in points with 19 beacuse she also has five assists. Both Warriors are tied for fifth in goals … Coleman has moved up to tied-for-third in the career top 10 list with 20 career goals. She tied with Jade Poon and Erin Taylor.

Yet Another Winning Season: The 2015 Warriors have extended the program's winning-season streak to nine. They have turned in 10-plus wins in eight consecutive years.

About Cal State L.A.: 
Cal State LA will be making its seventh appearance in the CCAA Championship Tournament. The Golden Eagles claimed their second conference title in the program's history and first since in 2009 when they captured the championship in Turlock in 2014 … The Golden Eagles are 7-1-2 in their last 10 matches … Cal State LA's scoring lead is currently held by junior Veronika Steen, who has two goals and four assists for eight points … Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Adriana Maldonado has been among the conference's top performers this season. She is second in the conference with a 0.71 goals against average, third in save percentage at .847 and third in saves with 72.
